About this collection
A lot of people grab a packet of seeds and hope for the best, but that is the hard way to start. We focus on starter plants like our acclimatized mint, curry leaves, and cherry tomatoes because they have already survived the crucial early growth phase. When you bring these home, you are skipping the guesswork and starting with a plant that actually wants to grow.
There is a specific joy in plucking fresh rosemary for a marinade or mint for your evening chai. It transforms your cooking, but more importantly, it makes your space feel alive.
Why Start with Established Plants?
Most people struggle because they start from seeds in environments that are not quite right. We take care of the early days for you. Our starter plants—like our Ajwain and Curry Leaves—are already rooted in high-quality soil and adjusted to Mumbai's humidity. You are not buying a fragile seedling; you are buying a plant that is ready to thrive on your balcony.
Sunlight is the Secret
If you want your kitchen garden to last, sunlight is your best friend. Most of these herbs, especially rosemary and basil, need at least 4 to 5 hours of direct light. If you are in a high-rise with limited sun, stick to mint or certain varieties of spinach that tolerate partial shade better.
What We Stock
We keep a rotating selection of:
- Hardy Herbs: Mint, Curry Leaves, and Ajwain (essential for any Indian kitchen).
- Fragrant Additions: Rosemary and other seasonal aromatics.
- Small Fruits: Citrus trees like Sweet Lime and Cherry Tomato vines that are acclimatized to container living.
A Note on Watering
It sounds obvious, but overwatering kills more kitchen gardens than anything else. Your plants need a pot with drainage holes. If you are not sure if it needs water, poke your finger into the soil. If it feels damp, walk away. We love sharing these tips, so if you are worried about your setup, just ask us when you drop by the nursery in Sewri.
Plantscape
We are a team of plant enthusiasts in Sewri who believe everyone can grow their own food. We do not just sell you a pot; we make sure you pick a plant that fits your space and light, so you actually get to harvest your own chai-time mint or fresh lemons.
