About Bonsai: The Art of Miniature Trees
Growing a bonsai is not just about the initial purchase. It is about the long-term maintenance that comes after. Whether you are starting with a young Jade or looking for a mature Ficus with exposed roots, we show you how to trim, when to repot, and how to keep your tree happy in our local climate.
Bonsai is a lifelong collaboration between you and the plant. It is not an instant decor piece but a living thing that changes with the seasons. Our nursery at Sewri is filled with Ficus Microcarpa, Jade, and Adenium specimens in various stages of life. If you are a beginner, we suggest starting with Jade or Ficus because they are resilient and forgiving with beginners. For the experienced, our aged Adeniums (Desert Rose) with thick caudexes offer immediate character and stunning flowers.
We also offer styling sessions. If your plant is overgrown or has lost its shape, bring it to us. We show you how to prune for density and airflow, which is critical for preventing pests and ensuring health. Remember, a healthy bonsai needs a specialized, well-draining soil mix; never use regular garden soil or potting mixes designed for heavy foliage plants. We prep our trees for the local humidity, but once you take them home, they need a consistent spot with the right light. Drop by to see the collection and chat about what tree suits your space.
