Film & Monochrome Maternity Photography
Embrace the raw beauty of grain, light leaks, and the quiet emotion of black and white photography.
A collage of moments from a home session, presented in a soft, film-like aesthetic. It shows a variety of poses, from a playful dance to a quiet walk together.
This collage combines a black and white image with color photos from the same session. It shows how different processing can bring out different moods from the same beautiful moments.
A four-image grid telling the story of a home session. The slightly grainy, film-inspired look gives these moments a nostalgic and timeless quality.
A two-photo collage showing different angles of the couple's embrace in their home. The consistent, warm toning gives the images a cohesive, story-like feel.
This three-photo collage captures the joy and intimacy of a home session. The high-angle shot of them on the sofa provides a unique perspective on their space.
About The Art of Film & Monochrome
When I pull out my old FED-5 camera, we stop chasing perfect lighting and start looking for the messier, warmer truth. Those light leaks and that heavy grain are not mistakes, they are the texture of your family’s story. If you feel like traditional, hyper-retouched photos don't look like your family, this is the alternative. We focus on the emotion in the room, stripping away the distraction of color to leave only the connection between you.
There is a distinct difference between digital perfection and the character of analogue film. My hybrid sessions allow us to get the best of both worlds. We start with the Sony for those crisp, high-resolution family photos you need for printing and sharing. Then, we switch to my vintage film camera for a slower, more deliberate pace. This process takes time, which is why the hybrid collection is a 3-hour session.
Shooting on film teaches us to let go. We cannot check the screen every two minutes to see if we look perfect. Instead, we keep moving, dancing, and laughing, resulting in shots that feel grounded and real.
Black and white photography serves a similar purpose. By removing color, we stop looking at the background or what you are wearing and start looking at the way your hands touch your bump or how you look at your partner. These images are about the feeling of the moment.
Whether we are in your Bangalore home or out in a quiet nature spot, I encourage you to embrace the blur and the grain. These are the elements that make a photo feel like a memory, not just a digital file.
Svetlana Daizy
I'm Svetlana. I bounce between Bangalore and Moscow with my camera, always looking for the messy, real bits. I don't believe in stiff poses. I want the laughter, the quiet, and everything in between.
