Signature Design Elements for Your Green Space
It is the small details that change the vibe of a room. From warm accent lighting to custom planters, these are the signature elements that turn a standard corner into your personal sanctuary.
Maximize your space with this stylish vertical ladder planter. It's a perfect way to create a vibrant outdoor oasis or add a touch of green to a small indoor corner, allowing you to display multiple plants without taking up floor space.
What a serene vibe. A carefully placed Buddha statue surrounded by lush areca palms and other foliage, highlighted by a soft spotlight, instantly creates a corner of peace and tranquility in any setting.
The color combination of green and brown is always natural and harmonious. This rooftop terrace design features green walls and planters that blend beautifully with brown wooden furniture and a pergola, creating a warm, earthy feel.
Small design additions can make all the difference. This image shows three examples: a honeycomb wall shelf for succulents, a tall corner planter rack, and a simple floor planter, each adding a unique touch of green.
This is the "Cloud Nine Cocktail Counter" from one of my rooftop projects. Surrounded by vertical green walls and featuring a unique honeycomb shelf, it's the perfect spot for entertaining with style.
Who says a bar counter and plants can't be a stylish pair? Here, a tall Fiddle Leaf Fig plant stands elegantly next to a modern home bar, adding a touch of natural sophistication to the entertainment area.
Macramé plant hangers are perfect for a boho-chic look. Their woven texture adds interest and frees up floor space, as shown here with a variety of hanging plants that create a layered, relaxed feel.
Metallic accents like brass, copper, or gold add a touch of elegance. These elements, whether as planters or furniture details, contrast beautifully with greenery, as seen in this sophisticated living room setup.
Combining books and art with plants adds a personal touch. Nature-themed art, botanical prints, and plants placed on bookshelves or side tables create a space that feels curated, personal, and connected to nature.
Ceramic and terracotta planters in neutral or earthy tones are a timeless choice. They add natural texture and complement the beauty of the plants, as seen with these flowering plants in simple, rectangular pots.
About Signature Design Elements
Good lighting is not just about visibility, it is about setting the mood. We often suggest mixing warm rattan pendants for a bohemian look or targeted LED uplighting to highlight greenery after sunset. If you have a dark corner, a simple spotlight on a tall Fiddle Leaf Fig can immediately draw the eye and make the area feel larger and more intentional.
The secret to a space that feels alive is layering. When we approach a design, we look at the 'hard' elements—planters, shelves, and lighting—as much as we look at the plants themselves.
Choosing the Right Planters
Planters are the foundation. For indoors, we often move away from standard plastic pots. Using ceramic or terracotta in neutral tones adds texture and warmth. If you have a smaller footprint, consider vertical options. A ladder planter or a wall-mounted honeycomb shelf can turn a blank wall into a garden without using up precious floor space.
Lighting for Atmosphere
Plants look different once the sun goes down. We use lighting to change the personality of a room. Warm, low-hanging wicker pendants work perfectly over a dining area or a coffee nook. For balconies, we prefer weather-resistant fairy lights or subtle, warm-toned spotlights that wash up against the foliage. It creates a soft, dappled light effect that is perfect for winding down after a long day.
Adding Personal Character
Your space should feel like yours, not a catalog page. We like to bring in unexpected elements. A stone Buddha statue adds a sense of calm, while macramé hangers bring in that soft, woven texture that balances out the sharpness of modern furniture. Even stacking nature-inspired art or botanical prints near your plants ties the whole look together.
Remember, you do not need to overhaul your entire house. Start with one 'hero' spot—a corner that catches the light or where you sip your morning tea—and build the elements around that. That is how you create a space where you actually want to spend time.
