Modern Terrace & Balcony Gardens for Your Home
Turn your empty balcony or rooftop into a private green escape. Whether you want a cozy seating nook or a lush vertical garden, we design smart, low-maintenance spaces that thrive in our city’s climate.
This terrace garden makeover shows how you can have it all: a soft lawn area, built-in seating, and beautiful planters filled with colorful flowers and foliage. We turned this open rooftop into a private, serene spot where the homeowners can relax and unwind.
For this balcony, we created a custom vertical planter to maximize green space without sacrificing floor area. The process starts with a digital design, which is then precision-cut from a WPC board using a CNC machine. My team assembles the planter and fills it with a selection of beautiful, low-maintenance plants.
Not sure what's possible for your terrace? These 3D design animations can help you visualize the potential. We can create anything from a cozy seating area with a pergola to a full dining space with an outdoor kitchen, all surrounded by beautiful, integrated planters.
About Terrace & Balcony Gardens
When we design for small balconies, the biggest challenge is weight and wall safety. We often use CNC-cut WPC boards for vertical planters because they are lightweight, weather-resistant, and won't stress your structural walls. I personally make sure we use a lightweight potting mix with perlite and coco peat, so you get all the lush greenery without the structural risk or heavy maintenance.
Your terrace or balcony is more than just an outdoor extension; it is a potential micro-climate. At Pasture Landscape, we approach these projects with a structure-first mindset. Before any lawn goes down or planters go up, we address the foundation. On terraces, we install a 20mm drainage cell system beneath the grass rolls. This prevents waterlogging, which is the fastest way to ruin a terrace slab over time.
For decks, we avoid wood that rots. We use waterproof, termite-proof WPC floorboards mounted on an aluminum or galvanized iron grid. This keeps the deck level and ensures 100 percent drainage. We finish the installation with stainless steel (SS 304) anti-rust clips, so you don't deal with ugly rust stains on your floor after the first monsoon.
We also prioritize the plant selection based on your specific sunlight exposure. If you have a south-facing terrace that gets harsh afternoon sun, we focus on hardy, flowering varieties like Bougainvillea or Plumeria. For shaded balconies, we lean toward soft, moisture-loving ferns. Every project starts with a 3D render so we can plan the layout, electrical points, and planter placement before we ever pick up a tool. This prevents the 'trial and error' approach that often leads to dead plants or damp walls a year down the line.
