About Engagements & Roka: Romantic Beginnings
At an engagement or Roka, the flow is everything. I do not just stick to a fixed playlist. I observe the crowd to pace the energy, starting with soft, romantic ballads for the ring ceremony and gradually lifting the mood as the conversation warms up. We can discuss your favourite love songs beforehand, so the performance feels personal and deeply connected to your story.
Your engagement or Roka is an intimate milestone, and the music should reflect that closeness. Whether you are hosting a cozy home gathering or a larger event in a Mumbai banquet hall, my goal is to build an atmosphere where everyone feels involved.
I offer flexible setups to match your space and crowd size. For smaller, quieter gatherings, a solo performance with high-quality backing tracks is often perfect. If you prefer a more organic sound for a sundowner or garden venue, we can go with an acoustic trio including a guitarist and percussionist.
Technical details are straightforward. I bring my professional microphones and sound console, but I do rely on the venue to provide the main speaker system, or PA. This is something we should confirm early, as it ensures the sound quality remains crisp throughout the ceremony.
When it comes to the setlist, we can mix in your requests. While Bollywood romantic hits are a staple for ring ceremonies, I also incorporate Gujarati folk songs or Lagnageet if that aligns with your family traditions. It is all about reading the room, reacting to the mood, and keeping the energy right where you want it.
