Authentic Shorin-ryu Karate from Okinawa
My training at the Honbu Dojo in Okinawa directly shapes every class I conduct in India. This is where tradition meets practical discipline.
A formal moment at the Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Honbu Dojo in Okinawa as Hanshi Minoru Nakazato reads the declaration for my Kyoshi Nanadan (7th Dan) rank. This connection to the source is vital.
Receiving the 7th Dan certificate from my teacher, Hanshi Minoru Nakazato. The act of bowing shows respect for the lineage and the knowledge being passed down through generations.
A collage capturing the key moments of my Kyoshi Nanadan examination and awarding in Okinawa. This rank is a great responsibility, representing a commitment to preserving and teaching traditional karate.

With my teacher at the Honbu Dojo in Okinawa, in front of a rack of traditional kobudo weapons like the bo and sai. My training in both empty-hand karate and weapons arts comes directly from this lineage.
About Rooted in Okinawan Tradition
When you join a session, you are learning the same Shorin-ryu Shorinkan methods I study under Hanshi Minoru Nakazato in Okinawa. My Kyoshi Nanadan certification is a commitment to keeping these traditional techniques accurate and effective for every student, whether in a school program or a community clubhouse.
The techniques we teach are not modified for convenience. They come directly from the Honbu Dojo, the heart of Shorin-ryu. Being the first in India to receive the 7th Dan Kyoshi rank from Hanshi Minoru Nakazato means I have a responsibility to teach the art exactly as it was passed to me.
Why Tradition Matters in Your Training
Karate is often misunderstood as just physical combat. In our classes, we focus on the deeper purpose: Shorin-ryu is designed for efficiency and self-reliance. You will find that our stance work, the speed of our movements, and the way we use weapons like the bo staff are consistent with the heritage I continue to study in Japan. This provides a level of clarity that helps students progress faster and with better form.
What You Will Experience
Whether you are a beginner or a senior student, the expectations remain the same. We emphasize Kihon (basics) to build a strong physical foundation, and Kata (forms) to develop mental focus. For those interested in Kobudo, we integrate traditional weapon training into the curriculum, which teaches coordination and control.
We do not look for shortcuts. The discipline developed during training in your apartment complex or school gymnasium is meant to translate into your daily life. It is about building habits that last, just as it has been for me since 1992.
