Celebrating Festivals with Our Community
At Nivriti, festivals are more than just holidays; they are vibrant, hands-on learning experiences that teach our children culture, history, and the joy of growing together.
Preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi are in full swing. Little hands are busy making Ganeshas and preparing modaks, filling our environment with love and devotion.
Celebrating Krishna Janmashtami by churning butter and painting pots. These hands-on activities connect children to the stories and traditions of the festival in a meaningful way.
The act of churning butter has deep significance, both spiritually and in Montessori. It improves grip, enhances coordination, and teaches children about the transformation of milk into butter.
Happy Independence Day. Our children celebrated by creating art with the colors of the tiranga, our national flag.
Happy Sankranti. We celebrated the harvest festival with colorful rangoli, storytelling, and dressing in traditional clothes.
A beautiful sunrise drawn by one of our children to welcome the new year. We hope this year brings hope, health, and happiness to our entire community.
A very special Christmas celebration, complete with outdoor games, a visit from Santa, and lots of festive cheer.
Our little elves are busy decorating the Christmas tree and making their own ornaments. The festive spirit fills our classroom as we prepare for the celebration.
Happy Children's Day to our wonderful students. We celebrated with art, games, and lots of fun activities.
From Diwali cleaning to making decorations, our children participate in every aspect of the festival preparations. We wish our beautiful community a very Happy Diwali.
About Celebrating Together: Our Community's Festivals
When we mark a festival, we don't just decorate; we bring our learning space to life. Whether it is churning butter for Janmashtami or designing floral pookalams for Onam, every activity is designed to build fine motor skills, coordination, and genuine cultural appreciation. Your child learns by doing, contributing, and being an active part of our growing school family.
Festivals at Nivriti Montessori act as natural extensions of our curriculum. We believe that when a child understands the rhythm of a festival, they learn about history, geography, and social science in the most immersive way possible.
From the meticulous preparation of modaks for Ganesh Chaturthi to the delicate art of crafting ornaments for our Christmas tree, these moments are planned to support independence and focus. We encourage the children to participate in every step of the process. This isn't passive observation; it is active participation.
For instance, during our harvest celebrations like Sankranti, children engage in rangoli making and storytelling, connecting them to the agricultural roots of the festival. When we celebrate Janmashtami, we move beyond just dressing up; the act of churning butter becomes a lesson in patience, physical coordination, and the understanding of transformation.
Our community is the heartbeat of these celebrations. We often invite parents to join us, turning our school into a shared space where we all learn from each other. By celebrating Diwali, Christmas, Onam, and other festivals together, we help children develop empathy, learn about diverse traditions, and feel a sense of belonging. It is these shared moments, the noise of laughter, and the collaborative spirit that truly define our Montessori community on Sarjapur Road.
