Ensemble and Group Music Performances
Playing an instrument is personal, but making music is communal. At Nathaniel School of Music, we move beyond solo practice to help you find your groove within a band, choir, or ensemble.
Experience the energy of our student bootcamps. Here, our student Srilatha performs a rocking version of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," accompanied by me on bass and Shaan Belchada on cajon. This shows how we create real band experiences.
Congratulations to our students on completing their Music Method semester. Here they are performing Ed Sheeran's "Afterglow," with Michelle on vocals, Joshua on guitar, Anupama on harmony vocals, and Arjun on piano. This is a great example of a successful group project.
We are thrilled to share our students' cover of Naomi Scott's "Speechless" from Disney's "Aladdin." This performance features Ruhi and Naman on keyboards, with Aria on main vocals and Michelle on backing vocals, showcasing a fantastic team effort.
This photo captures a choir session during one of our workshops. Group singing is a fantastic way to learn about harmony, listening, and blending voices, and it's a core part of the community experience at our school.
Even a simple rhythm exercise can become a powerful group activity. Here, I'm leading a workshop with students and teachers in Sikkim, using Queen's "We Will Rock You" to teach rhythm and participation in a fun, interactive way.
Our students unwind over the weekend with a jam session, playing The Beatles' classic "Obladi Oblada." These informal moments are just as important for building community and a love for playing music together.
It's always a joy to see students from around the globe connect in person. Here, Donal from our international student community jams with Sandeep, sharing piano progressions and their passion for music.
About Ensemble & Group Performances
In our 6-month Music Method program, performing as a group is a core requirement, not an optional extra. We prioritize these sessions because learning to listen to your bandmates, blend your harmonies, and maintain time in a live setup teaches you more about musicianship than solo practice ever could.
At Nathaniel School of Music, we treat every instrument and voice as part of a larger conversation. When you perform in a group, you stop memorizing notes and start listening to the groove, the rhythm, and the harmony surrounding you. This transition from 'playing notes' to 'making music' is exactly what we aim for in our certificate programs.
Our curriculum is structured to bridge the gap between individual practice and real-world performance. You will not just learn to play your part; you will learn how to lock in with a bassist, harmonize with vocalists, and lead or support a melody depending on what the song requires. We regularly organize jam sessions where students tackle everything from The Beatles to modern pop arrangements, ensuring your skills have a practical application outside the classroom.
Whether you are working on vocal blending in our choir workshops or learning song dissection in our 'Music Factory' sessions, the goal is always the same: to move from reading sheets to understanding the theory. This collaborative environment is available to students in our Bangalore centers and through our interactive online program, allowing you to learn with peers regardless of your location.
Nathaniel School of Music
I believe that music should be felt, not just read from a sheet. I started this school to move away from rote learning and help you understand the theory, rhythm, and harmony that make a song work. If you are ready to stop playing like a robot and start playing like a musician, let's get to work.
