These finishes rely on precise technique to get the light-shift effect right. Whether you want the magnetic movement of cat-eye, the futuristic sheen of chrome, or a seamless ombre gradient, I create these styles with high-quality products that last.

An iridescent chrome finish on long stiletto nails. This set features a mix of full chrome and 3D flame outlines for a futuristic look.

This unique "denim" effect is created with a blue cat-eye polish and a silver chrome border on long stiletto nails.

A soft and shimmery pink cat-eye effect. You can see how the light band moves across the nail, giving it depth and dimension.

A vibrant neon yellow and white ombre on almond-shaped nails. This is a perfect, eye-catching look for summer.

A beautiful pink-to-purple ombre on long almond-shaped acrylics. The color transition is smooth and seamless.

A dreamy blue and white ombre, also known as "cloud nails." This is a soft, subtle, and very popular design.

A chic and edgy set of square extensions. Most nails are a glossy jet black, with two accent nails featuring a stunning multi-tonal chrome finish.

About Chrome, Cat-Eye & Ombre Effects

Getting the perfect shift in cat-eye or chrome depends entirely on the base layer and how I cure the polish. If you are going for chrome, expect a slightly longer appointment time because it is a multi-step process: base, colour, chrome powder, and a double top coat to lock that shine in so it does not chip. If you have a specific outfit in mind, tell me, and we will match the shade so the metallic pop actually complements your look.

How I Execute These Styles

These designs are popular for a reason, but they require a steady hand and the right equipment to look clean rather than messy.

  • Chrome & Metallic: I apply a non-wipe top coat as a base before rubbing the pigment into the nail. Without this specific top coat, the chrome looks dull. To make it last, I seal the edges with a high-gloss finish, which prevents the metallic layer from peeling at the tips.
  • Cat-Eye (Magnetic): This relies on iron filings in the polish. I use a high-powered magnet to pull the particles into the exact position you want—whether that is a straight line, a diagonal shift, or a wavy effect. It takes practice to keep the particles suspended in place while curing under the lamp so the effect does not fade before it hardens.
  • Ombre Gradients: The key here is blending. Whether it is a pastel transition or a neon-to-white fade, I use a specific brush technique to ensure the colours overlap seamlessly. If the gradient is done poorly, you see lines where the colours meet; my goal is a smooth transition from cuticle to tip.

Why Technique Matters

I was trained at NSA Thailand, and that training dictates how I handle these specific applications. I do not take shortcuts. If you choose these designs, I will assess your nail health first to ensure the base is strong enough to hold the extra layers of product. If you have an event, let me know if you need specific lengths or shapes, as these effects show up differently on stiletto nails versus short, rounded tips. We can discuss your preferred finish at my Vikaspuri studio before we start.
