Understand the tools and products that separate amateur work from professional results. Here are the practical hacks I teach at my Navi Mumbai studio.

Did you know there are two main types of gel top coats? In this video, I explain the difference between a sticky layer and no-wipe top coat and when to use each for techniques like pigments and foils.

About Pro Tips & Product Knowledge

Using the right top coat is the most common mistake I see. If you are struggling with pigments, powders, or foils not sticking, check if you are using a no-wipe top coat by mistake. You need a sticky layer for those designs to transfer properly, a simple fix that saves hours of frustration.

Mastering Your Tools

Learning nail art is about more than just painting designs. It is about understanding the chemistry behind your supplies. When your foundation is strong, you can handle any technique.

Top Coat Selection

Many students use a single top coat for everything. However, you need two distinct types in your kit:

  • No-Wipe Top Coat: Best for a high-shine, clean finish on standard gel polish. It cures completely dry, meaning nothing else will stick to it.
  • Sticky Layer Top Coat: Essential for chrome powders, pigments, and transfer foils. The tacky layer left after curing acts as the anchor for these materials.

Brush Maintenance

Your brushes are your most important asset. Cheap brushes don't last long, but even professional brushes require care. I teach my students the boiling water technique to clean and reshape frayed synthetic brushes. This prevents you from wasting money on constant replacements and keeps your fine lines crisp.

Understanding Viscosity

Whether you are doing 3D emboss work or intricate fine line painting, viscosity is everything. I teach you how to manage gel consistency so it does not flood the cuticles or spread unintentionally. This is part of the core training at my Vashi academy, where we keep groups small to ensure you understand how to control your product, not just apply it.
