Analogue and Film Photography Portfolio
A collection of editorial and portrait work using 19th-century wet plate collodion processes and medium format film.
A portrait of Mashal, created using the 19th-century wet plate collodion process. This technique produces a one-of-a-kind ambrotype on a 4x6 inch glass plate, characterized by its monochrome tones and unique imperfections that are part of the analogue art form.
A seated portrait for a PhotoVogue feature, shot on film to achieve a timeless and classic look. The use of natural light and shadow creates depth and mood, ideal for editorial photography.
An atmospheric portrait of model Holly Sofia, captured on black and white film. The motion from the wind in her hair and the soft focus demonstrate the rich, textural quality that film photography provides.
An editorial portrait of Naina for a campaign with fashion label Swatti Kapoor. This close-up shot on film highlights the subject's expression and the artistic use of a prop to create a compelling image for the brand.
About Featured
The wet plate collodion process I use requires you to hold a pose for several seconds. It is a slow, intentional practice compared to modern digital snapshots. If you choose this for your portrait, be prepared for a 3 hour session focused on capturing that one definitive glass plate.
My approach to image making moves away from the speed of digital media. I focus on analogue processes because they offer a texture and depth that pixel based imagery lacks.
Wet Plate Collodion
This is a 19th century technique where I coat, sensitize, and develop glass plates on site. Each ambrotype is a physical, one of a kind object. Because it relies on chemicals and manual exposure, the final result includes minor marks and shifts that I keep as part of the work. You do not get a digital file for these, you get the physical artifact.
Film Photography
For fashion campaigns and editorial lookbooks, I use 120mm medium format film. The process provides a rich tonality and natural grain structure. I work with teams, including stylists and makeup artists, to ensure the mood aligns with the brand vision. The aesthetic is atmospheric and clean.
Collaborative Work
Photography is a team effort. Whether I am shooting a campaign in Delhi or an editorial portrait in London, I coordinate closely with the subject and the creative team. My schedule is split between the UK and India, allowing me to bring an international aesthetic to projects in both regions. If you are looking for imagery that prioritizes form, light, and atmosphere over rapid fire output, we are likely a good fit.
