Analogue Fashion and Editorial Photography
Film photography for lookbooks and campaigns. Medium format techniques for rich texture and a timeless editorial aesthetic.

An atmospheric portrait of model Holly Sofia, captured on black and white film. The motion from the wind in her hair and the soft focus demonstrate the rich, textural quality that film photography provides.
An editorial portrait of Naina for a campaign with fashion label Swatti Kapoor. This close-up shot on film highlights the subject's expression and the artistic use of a prop to create a compelling image for the brand.

A black and white film photograph from the same fashion series for Label Rama. This version emphasizes form, shadow, and the graphic quality of the composition, demonstrating the versatility of a single setup when shot on analogue film.
About Analogue Fashion & Editorial
When shooting on film, my process is deliberate. I consult on mood boards and styling first, ensuring the team—models, makeup artists, and stylists—aligns with the desired atmosphere before we load the camera. This preparation allows us to capture specific, unrepeatable textures in the final 30 to 35 high-resolution scans.
The Analogue Approach
Digital imagery often lacks the tactile quality required for high-end fashion campaigns. My work focuses on the physical properties of film—grain, light response, and tonality—to produce results that feel distinct from standard digital outputs.
Technical Workflow
I shoot using 120mm medium format cameras. This format provides depth and resolution that is necessary for professional editorial layouts. Each session includes the cost of professional-grade film stock, such as Kodak Portra or Ilford B&W, and covers professional chemical development in a dedicated lab. The final deliverables are 30 to 35 high-resolution scans (TIFF/JPEG) that undergo basic dust removal and grading.
Collaboration and Travel
Photography is a team effort. My sessions involve close coordination with stylists and creative teams to define the mood before the shoot begins. Because I split my time between the UK and India, I am available for campaigns in both regions. Whether you need a lookbook shot in a studio or on location, the logistical details are handled to ensure a focused creative environment.
Why Film for Fashion?
- Rich Tonality: Film captures light and shadow in a way that creates atmospheric, timeless images.
- Texture: The natural grain of the film stock adds an authentic quality to fashion editorials.
- Depth: Medium format captures a range of detail that translates well into both print and digital media.
