Including Your Furry Friends in Your Wedding
Your wedding day is about all the love in your life, and that includes your four-legged family members. I love documenting these playful, heartwarming interactions that add a layer of unconditional joy to your celebration.
A heartwarming moment where the couple showers their beloved golden retriever with affection during their Sangeet. Including pets in the celebration adds a layer of personal, unconditional love to the day.
About Our Furry Family
If you are planning to bring your pet to the wedding, let us talk about the logistics early. Pets can get overwhelmed by the noise of a baraat or reception, so I always recommend having a designated family member or a professional handler on standby to keep them comfortable. My approach is to let them be themselves, no forced poses, just raw, happy moments of them being part of your special day.
Including a pet in your wedding is more than just a photo opportunity. It is about having your family together for your biggest milestone. When I capture these moments, I am looking for the quiet connections—the way a dog rests its head on your lap while you get ready, or the excitement in their eyes during the sangeet.
Preparing Your Pet for the Big Day
- Venue Familiarization: If possible, bring your pet to the venue a day early so they can sniff around and get comfortable with the surroundings before the guests arrive.
- The Handler Rule: This is the most important part. You will be busy with rituals, photos, and greeting guests. You need someone whose sole job is to watch the pet, manage their leash, and take them out for walks or breaks when they get tired.
- Comfort First: Weddings are loud. Think about your pet's temperament. If they get anxious around crowds, consider having them present only for the portrait session or the smaller, more intimate rituals rather than the entire night.
- Keep It Simple: Avoid elaborate costumes that might overheat or restrict them. A simple floral collar or a bow tie that matches your wedding theme works best and keeps them happy.
At the end of the day, your pet brings a sense of home and unconditional love to the wedding. Whether it is a beach ceremony in Puri or a celebration at a private estate in Mumbai, my goal is to ensure they are included in a way that feels natural, safe, and entirely full of heart.
