Finding calm in the petals. I translate the delicate, fleeting beauty of fresh roses into lasting gouache and acrylic studies for your home.

This video shows my complete process for painting these red and peach roses. From arranging the fresh bouquet for inspiration to mixing the perfect shades of gouache and laying down each petal, you can see how the artwork comes to life.

A close-up of my finished red rose painting on 300gsm watercolor paper. I love how the texture of the paper adds to the realistic feel of the petals and leaves, especially with the beautiful shadows cast by the natural light.

Red roses are a classic for a reason. This process video shows how I build up the layers of gouache on textured paper, starting with a blank slate and slowly forming the iconic shape and deep color of the rosebuds.

Yellow roses symbolize friendship and joy, so I wanted this piece to feel bright and sunny. This video shows me painting a yellow rose from life, focusing on capturing its cheerful color and the structure of its petals using gouache.

Sometimes, art is the only thing that calms the chaos. This video captures a moment of finding peace in my studio, using a real rose as a reference to create a detailed botanical painting on thick watercolor paper.

Holding the finished sketchbook painting next to the real sunflowers and roses that inspired it. You can see how I translated the colors and forms of the fresh flowers directly onto the page using gouache.

Taking my art outdoors connects it back to its source. Here is the finished rose painting from my sketchbook, held up against a beautiful, serene park path. It shows how nature is the ultimate inspiration for my work.

About this collection

When I paint these roses, I start by arranging a fresh bouquet in my studio to study the way light catches each petal. I use professional-grade gouache on 300gsm cotton paper, building up layers to capture that specific velvety matte finish you see in the photos, rather than just a flat color.

Bringing the Garden Inside

I treat every rose painting as a study of nature’s quietest moments. Roses are naturally complex—the way the petals fold, the subtle gradient from a deep crimson center to a soft, sun-kissed edge, and the way they wilt or bloom. My goal is to freeze those moments in time.

My Mediums

For most of these studies, I lean toward gouache. It is opaque and dries to a beautiful, soft matte finish that feels very similar to the petals themselves. I paint on 300gsm, 100% cotton paper (usually Arches or Baohong) because it handles moisture well without warping, allowing me to get those tiny, precise details in the leaf veins and petal folds.

If you prefer something with more presence, I also offer textured acrylic paintings. These are done on rigid panels, where I use heavy-body acrylics to build up 3D texture—a style that looks wonderful on a desk or propped up on a small shelf.

How to Commission a Piece

If you have a specific rose color in mind—perhaps a nostalgic peach, a classic deep red, or a vibrant yellow—let me know. Since each piece is hand-painted, I can adapt the color palette to fit your space.

  • Paper Options: A4 or A5 sizing on professional-grade cotton paper.
  • Panel Options: 6 to 12-inch rigid panels for a sturdier, modern look.
  • Customization: Send me a reference photo or tell me the 'vibe' you want, and I will capture it for you.

Art should be a source of calm, not stress. I keep my process transparent, and I am happy to chat about what size or style fits your corner of the room best.
