About Intricate Traditional Mehendi
These traditional designs are dense and involve a lot of filled work, which means they typically take 1.5 to 2 hours per person to complete. I prioritize precision in every peacock, elephant, and jaal detail, which ensures the final stain is deep and rich, making it well worth the patience while I work.
For me, traditional mehendi is where the heart of Indian celebration truly lies. This style is often called 'Bharwa' or filled mehendi because it covers the skin with dense, intricate patterns leaving very little empty space. It is a slow, meditative process that requires a steady hand and an eye for symmetry.
Why choose this style?
This is the classic bridal look that never goes out of fashion. I incorporate signature Indian elements like:
- Peacocks & Elephants: These are staple motifs that represent grace and power, often placed as the centerpiece of the design.
- Jaal Work: This is the fine lattice or net pattern that gives the design its structure and depth.
- Architectural Arches: I often draw 'jharokhas' or traditional window arches, which frame the other elements and add a royal touch to your hands.
- Floral Details: Lotus bands and traditional paisleys are woven into the gaps to tie the whole composition together.
The process
Because these designs are so detailed, I use a freshly mixed organic henna paste that ensures a dark maroon stain. It matures beautifully over 48 hours. When you book a traditional session with me, we are looking at a commitment of 1.5 to 2 hours per person. It is not just about the henna; it is about the experience of sitting down, relaxing, and watching the story of the patterns come together on your skin. Whether you are the bride, the mother, or a close friend attending a wedding in Bangalore, these designs offer a timeless, elegant look that stands out in photos and celebrations.
