Classic patterns tell a timeless story. From dense peacock motifs to delicate lattice work, these are the traditional designs I love creating for my Bengaluru brides.

A classic bridal design featuring symmetrical peacocks on the forearms and intricate jaali patterns on the palms. The initials of the couple are subtly hidden within the design.

This design showcases a majestic peacock on one palm and a traditional vase with flowers on the other, surrounded by floral patterns and hanging chandeliers for a royal look.

A beautiful bridal henna design featuring temple bells on the wrists and lotus motifs on the back of the hands, blending spiritual and natural elements.

This traditional design is filled with classic elements, including parrots, paisleys, and checkerboard patterns, creating a rich and full look for the bride.

The beauty of traditional henna lies in the details. Here you can see the combination of bold figures and fine line work that makes the design stand out.

About this collection

Traditional henna is a marathon, not a sprint. When you opt for this dense, 'bhara' (full) style, we are looking at a 5 to 6-hour session. Because I focus on intricate patterns with minimal negative space, I prefer managing the drying process myself to ensure the stain deepens evenly without smudging, so you will need to clear your schedule and just relax with me.

There is a specific kind of calm that comes with the 'Bhara' style. I use 100% natural henna mixed with Nilgiri oil, which means the scent is earthy and the stain is consistently deep. These intricate designs are built on repetition and flow—classic elements like peacocks, elephants, swans, and delicate Jaali (net) patterns that are woven together to cover hands and arms fully.

I apply a lemon-sugar sealant spray during the session to stop the henna from cracking. This is vital for these dense designs because if the henna falls off too early, the stain won't reach that rich, maroon intensity. I have worked with many regional traditions, whether you want space for Alta, specific lotus motifs, or the classic architecture-inspired domes.

If you are deciding between a minimalist look and this traditional route, keep in mind that the denser the design, the more 'active' time you spend sitting. I find it is the perfect time to chat, laugh, and let the pre-wedding jitters settle. We aren't just applying patterns; we are creating a heritage look that stands out in your wedding photos.

Hi, I’m Komal. Since 2015, I’ve found that the best henna art happens when we slow down. I love the meditative flow of traditional, dense designs—they are a labor of love that feels just as beautiful on the skin as it looks in the final photos.
