About Your Story in Henna: Initials & Symbols
When I incorporate names or initials, I do not just squeeze them into a corner. Whether you want it in classic Arabic calligraphy or tucked away amidst a dense, traditional 'bhari hui' design, I map it out so it feels like a natural part of the art, not an afterthought. It takes patience to blend these elements seamlessly, but that is exactly why I spend extra time planning the flow before I even start with my homemade henna cones.
For me, the best part of being a mehendi artist is the 'find the name' moment. There is something special about turning a traditional bridal design into a treasure hunt for the groom.
My Process:
- Mapping the Design: We start by talking about where you want the name or symbol. Some brides want it prominent on the palm, while others prefer it hidden in the intricate wrist pattern.
- Style Matching: If you choose a bold, Arabic style, I use flowing calligraphy that matches the surrounding vines. If we are doing a traditional Pakistani or 'bhari hui' (heavy) design, I weave the letters into the negative space or between the floral motifs so they appear almost like a secret pattern.
- The Personal Touch: I have done everything from football trophies for a super-fan's brother to wedding dates and full names in both English and Arabic script.
Since I use my own organic, homemade henna cones, the stain comes out a deep, rich maroon. This is important because personalized details look best when the color is dark and crisp. I travel across Mumbai, from Bhendi Bazar to all your locations, to make sure your bridal mehendi is exactly how you dreamed it. If you have an idea in your head, even if it is a bit crazy, tell me. I love a challenge and I will make sure it fits perfectly into your henna story.
