About Makeup for Real Skin
The biggest secret to handling real skin is understanding that color correctors neutralize tone, but they cannot erase texture. When I do makeup for active acne or pores, I focus on blurring the appearance while keeping the base lightweight, because heavy layering often emphasizes the very things we are trying to soften.
Many clients come to me worried that their skin won't look 'bridal' enough because of acne or vitiligo. My job is to shift that perspective. It is not about masking your identity under heavy layers of foundation; it is about using the right technical approach to enhance your natural complexion.
Handling Acne and Pores
I use green color correctors for redness and pore-filling primers, but I am always honest with my clients: texture like bumps or open pores are a natural part of human skin. We can blur them, but we do not try to airbrush away reality. My technique focuses on using matte products that won't catch on texture, keeping the focus on a fresh, glowing finish.
Vitiligo and Hyper-pigmentation
Whether it is vitiligo or severe hyperpigmentation, the process requires patience. I use specific techniques—layering orange correctors, letting them set, and then applying a base that matches your natural skin tone perfectly. This creates a seamless, even canvas that looks radiant, not plastered.
Embracing Dusky Skin
One of my biggest pet peeves is the industry’s obsession with lightening dusky skin. I work to keep your complexion rich and vibrant, using bronzy or golden highlighters that complement your skin rather than looking ashy.
Makeup is a tool for confidence. When I teach my students, this is the first thing I tell them: understand the science of your products so you can solve problems instead of just covering them up.
