Standard 6-Yard Saree Draping
Styles & Technique
- Styles Covered: Classic Nivi (shoulder pleats or open pallu), Gujarati (Sidha Pallu), or South Indian style.
- Silhouette: Structured pleating technique creates a slim waist look and avoids stomach bunching.
- Fabric Handling: Specialized handling for both stiff fabrics (new Kanjivaram/Banarasi) and slippery fabrics (Chiffon/Georgette).
Prep & Protection
- Ironing: On-site steam ironing to remove fold lines.
- Hardware: Use of premium rust-proof safety pins to prevent damage to heirloom sarees.
- Stability: Strategic pinning at the shoulder, waist, and pleats to ensure the saree stays intact for 6+ hours.
Finishing Touches
- Pallu Setting: Length adjustment based on client height (usually below the knee).
- Jewelry Check: Assistance in clasping necklaces or waist belts without snagging the fabric.
Signature Nauvari & Peshwai Draping
Specialized 9-Yard Styles
- Variants: Choice of Peshwai (Royal), Brahmani (Traditional), or the signature 'Devsena' Drape (Fusion).
- The Devsena Technique: Proprietary method using a front knot and internal pinning to reduce waist volume for a skirt-like silhouette.
- Mobility: Secure tucking of the 'Kashta' to allow full leg movement for walking or dancing.
Structural Engineering
- Pleat Management: Creation of symmetrical 'Payghol nerya' (flowing front pleats).
- Alignment: Precise placement of borders along the legs and shoulder for photography.
- Internal Support: Pinning from inside the garment to hide mechanics and flatten the tummy area.
Styling
- Waist Definition: Tucking techniques designed to accentuate the waist curve.
- Accessory Setting: Fixing the 'Kamarpatta' (belt) on the hip bone and securing the Pallu to display necklaces.
Saree-to-Lehenga Transformation
The Transformation
- Concept: Converting a standard soft-fabric saree (Silk/Georgette) into a flared Lehenga or Anarkali silhouette.
- Prerequisite: Requires a client-provided 'Can-Can' skirt (wire/mesh petticoat) to provide the necessary volume.
Technical Draping
- 360-Degree Pleating: Creating small, continuous pleats around the entire waistline to mimic a stitched skirt.
- Waist Shaping: Using a 'V' shape or triangular tuck at the front to eliminate bulk and fit the waist.
- Pallu Styling: Styling the remaining fabric as a 'Seedha Pallu' or a flowing Dupatta pinned on the shoulder.
Durability
- Dance-Proofing: Heavy-duty interlocking of pleats to withstand movement during events like Sangeets.
- Height Check: Precise floor-length adjustment to account for the can-can volume and prevent tripping.
About Saree Draping & Styling
My Saree Draping Philosophy
Saree draping is way more than just folding fabric for me. It's about how you feel in it - the confidence, the comfort, and your own vibe. Khup mahatvacha aahe ki (it's very important) you actually enjoy wearing it, whether it’s a classic Kanjivaram or a trendy, fusion style. I’m all about keeping things simple, easy to carry, and true to you.
Maharashtrian Nauvari & Modern Brides
Maharashtrian Nauvari saree draping is my absolute favorite. I specialize in Peshwai and Brahmani looks with all the royal touches - khopa hairstyle, nath, and Chandrakor bindi. For brides who want something new, I’ve created a fusion Devsena drape that gives a slimmer, more modern silhouette. It’s a fresh style that’s still rooted in tradition.
Saree to Lehenga Magic
Tumhala mahiti ahe ka (did you know) I can turn your regular saree into a lehenga? Especially with a can-can petticoat, it gives you that Anarkali flare for Haldi or Sangeet. It’s a cool way to reuse your favorite saree and switch up your look - saree to lehenga draping technique is my jam.
Occasions & Custom Drapes
I don’t just stick to Nauvari. I can do South Indian drapes for silks, Gujarati front pallus, or classic Nivi styles for any event. I match the drape to your outfit and occasion so it just works.
Complete Styling
It’s never just about the drape. I make sure your saree, makeup, hair, and accessories all come together for a complete look. No awkward bunching, no over-the-top styling - just you looking and feeling your best.
