About Dramatic & Fine Art Studio Portraits
These sessions rely on controlled studio lighting and specific fabric textures to create high-contrast, silhouette-focused imagery. This style is not about capturing candid movement but rather about precision and composition. We will be working in my Sushant Lok studio to manage the light placement and gown draping, ensuring the final result has that clean, editorial look.
The fine art aesthetic requires a more technical approach than standard lifestyle photography. Because we are relying on low-key lighting setups, the environment must be static and controlled. We use dark, non-reflective backdrops to isolate the subject, which emphasizes the pregnancy silhouette and the texture of the studio gowns.
The Process
These shoots are guided. I direct the posing to ensure the geometry of the shot works with the lighting. You do not need to worry about being a professional model; I will guide your posture, chin angle, and hand placement for every frame. We use specialized fabrics from my collection that are designed to flow and catch light in a specific way, creating those dramatic sweeping lines seen in these portraits.
Practical Considerations
- Studio Environment: All dramatic sessions take place in my Sushant Lok studio. We have full control over the light here, so session timing is flexible regardless of the weather outside.
- Wardrobe: I provide the maternity gowns. These are selected specifically for how they react to studio light. You are welcome to bring a backup outfit, but for this specific aesthetic, the studio-provided drapes are usually the most effective.
- Inclusions: Whether you are opting for the Essential or Premium package, the digital deliverables remain high-resolution. If you are interested in having your partner or older children included in this specific dramatic style, we can accommodate that within the session time, though the focus will remain on the maternity form.
