About Modern Glam: Reception & Cocktail Attire
Most rental cocktail outfits hang loose, but I personally use the 'kacchi silai' (hand-stitch) technique on the spot to nip your waist. This ensures your dupatta stays draped perfectly through the entire party without any clumsy safety pins ruining the fabric or digging into your skin.
When you are picking an outfit for your reception or sangeet, the 'feel' is everything. Unlike the heavy, traditional bridal lehengas, these cocktail looks need to move with you. Whether you choose a dramatic black velvet lehenga with silver work or a sharp, contemporary pantsuit, my focus is always on the silhouette.
I treat every rental as a styling session. If a zipper looks bulky, we swap it for a dori to get that cinched-waist look. If the jewellery is sitting wrong, we adjust the height of the choker or change the layering until it looks like it was made for you.
