My Story & First Market: Handmade Fiber Art
A peek behind the knots and stitches. My journey from hobbyist to my very first market stall in Mumbai, featuring the handmade pieces that keep me sane.
I made this little video to say hi and share my story. You can see where I work and learn why knotting and stitching mean so much to me.
My mom and I at the 'Knot That Stitch' stall. She's the one who first taught me to stitch as a kid, and having her there was so special.
Me in my element, arranging all the handmade goodies at my first ever market. I was so excited and nervous.
Getting the final details just right. Each piece, from the coasters to the baskets, is made with so much care.
Another photo with my amazing mom. Her support means the world to me and my little business.
Posing proudly behind the table full of my creations. You can see a variety of wall hangings and bags in the background.
A closer look at the products on my market table. You can see the different textures of the crochet bags, woven baskets, and macrame coasters.
About My Story & First Market
Every item you see here, from the dreamcatchers to the plant hangers, started as a way for me to manage my anxiety and find a bit of calm. Since I make everything in small batches using natural cotton cord, I can easily tweak colors or knot patterns if you need something specific for your home. If you are looking for a unique custom piece or just want to chat about fiber art, send me a message and let's create something together.
From My Hands to Your Home
This market stall was a major milestone for Knot That Stitch. It was not just about selling coasters or dreamcatchers, it was about finally sharing the craft my mom taught me when I was ten years old. Having her there with me made the whole experience incredibly special.
Why I Choose Slow Craft
Everything you see here is knotted by hand. I do not use heavy machinery or mass production methods because that takes the heart out of fiber art. Whether it is a macrame wall hanging for your living room or a set of spiraled coasters for your chai breaks, I use natural, sustainable cotton cords. Yes, this means things take time to make, and yes, sometimes a knot might be slightly wonky compared to factory-made decor. But that imperfection is proof that a real person, not a machine, put care into making it.
Customization & Care
Since I work out of my Mumbai studio, I love taking on custom commissions. Whether you want a specific color palette to match your bedroom wall or a unique gift for a friend, just reach out. I am happy to help you figure out the dimensions, knot styles, and textures.
Quick Care Tips:
- Wall Hangings: Give the fringe a gentle comb if it gets tangled during transit.
- Coasters: Hand-wash with mild soap and let them air dry, they will stay fresh for years.
- Planters: Ensure your pot size matches the weave capacity so your planties stay secure.
