Behind the Scenes of My Macrame Art
I believe the beauty of macrame is in the details. Here is a look at the slow-made process behind every custom knot and piece I create.
This is where the magic happens! A satisfying little video of my hands at work, tying the intricate knots that make up one of my keychains. Every knot is tied with care and attention.
Come pack an order with me! This was a special farewell gift hamper for a friend, filled with a macrame beach bag, earrings, and other goodies. I love curating and packing your special gifts.
About How It's Made
Every piece I create, from keychains to wall hangings, starts with a single cotton cord. I do not use machinery for these designs. Instead, I knot everything by hand myself. This means it takes me about 25 to 30 days to finish a custom order because I focus on getting the tension right and ensuring the patterns are consistent. When you order from me, you are getting something that has had my full, undivided attention.
My Slow-Made Process
I started Knots and Woods in 2020 as a creative outlet, and the way I work hasn't changed since then. I don't believe in rushing the process. Because I am a solopreneur, I handle everything from the initial design consultation to the final knot.
1. Design & Material Selection It all begins with your requirements. Whether it is a name sign for a nursery or a swing for your living room, we start by choosing colors and patterns. I use 100% recycled cotton cords and sturdy, laser-cut MDF bases for my nameplates because they are safe, eco-friendly, and durable.
2. The Knotting Phase This is the meditative part. I spend hours working on square knots, diamond patterns, and tassels. Watching a length of cord turn into a functional piece of art is my favorite part of the day.
3. Finishing & Packaging Every piece needs care to hold its shape. I stiffen the macrame leaves and ensure the wall hooks are securely mounted. Once the piece is ready, I pack it with care. It is a one-woman show, which is why I often share these moments on social media—I want you to see the effort that goes into your decor.
If you appreciate the time it takes to make something unique, we will definitely vibe well together.
