Beyond the courtroom and the headlines lies the person behind the practice. These are snapshots of the journey, the reflection required for the work, and the moments that ground my fight for justice.

A black and white portrait from around 2010, taken by Olivia Arthur of Magnum Photos for the "Women Changing India" book. This captures a moment at the end of a long day in court.

A throwback portrait from about seven years ago. The years since have been intense, but it's good to look back at the journey and the person I was then.

A quiet moment of thought. My work requires constant reflection, analysis, and a commitment to staying focused on the path of justice.

About Reflections & Moments

People often see the advocate on TV or in court, but the real work—the strategic litigation and constitutional analysis—happens in the quiet hours of research and deep reflection. When I am not preparing for a Supreme Court hearing or managing a corporate crisis, I am constantly recalibrating my approach to ensure my arguments are not just legally sound, but practically impactful.

The images here, including the portrait by Olivia Arthur of Magnum Photos, capture a different side of my practice. They are reminders that the law is not just an abstract set of rules or a collection of precedents. It is a living thing, and as an advocate, my job is to ensure it remains a promise of dignity and equality for every citizen.

My path, from the early days of 'Women Changing India' to my current focus on digital rights and media law, has been defined by a constant need to balance the intensity of court battles with the clarity needed for effective analysis. Whether I am drafting a petition against surveillance or debating electoral bonds, I return to the same core values: hold the peace, work until there is real justice, and never lose the faith.

This is why I prioritize accessible legal commentary. The law can be intimidating, but it belongs to everyone. When I speak at universities or consult on corporate litigation strategy, I strip away the jargon to focus on the human impact and the constitutional reality.

I believe in the strength of my ‘woman and girl tribe’ and the lessons learned from my mother, Mita Nundy. These relationships sustain me through long hours and complex legal crises. If you are looking for an expert to break down the complexities of criminal justice reform, guide a corporation through a high-stakes crisis, or provide sharp, constitutional analysis for a public event, I bring this same level of personal conviction to every engagement. Justice is hard work, but we must keep showing up.

I am Karuna, and my fight for justice is fueled by the women who came before me and the ones I work with today. My practice is not just about the law books; it is about bringing human rights, gender equality, and constitutional values into every space I inhabit, from high-stakes courtrooms to public lecture halls.
