Snakes are often feared, but I see them differently. My work captures the quiet, vital role these reptiles play in our ecosystem, from the Indian Rock Python to the elusive Bamboo Pit Viper.

The raw power and grace of an Indian Rock Python moving through the forest. Watching its muscles ripple as it navigates the dry leaves is a reminder of the wild beauty I strive to capture in my films.

A portrait of a magnificent Indian Rock Python. These gentle giants are often misunderstood, but I find a deep sense of calm and respect when I am in their presence, documenting their quiet existence.

Perfectly camouflaged, a highly venomous Bamboo Pit Viper waits in ambush in the Western Ghats. These predators can stay motionless for weeks, a testament to the patience and strategy found in the natural world.

Watch how this juvenile Bamboo Pit Viper uses its prehensile tail to grip a branch. It's these small, fascinating details of animal behavior that I love to document and share.

The defensive display of a Green Vine Snake. Though only semi-venomous, its threat posture is a stunning example of natural warning signals. I capture these moments to educate people on how to read and respect animal behavior.

A Green Vine Snake, perfectly adapted to its arboreal life, seen here during the monsoon. The vibrant greens of the forest come alive during this season, providing the perfect backdrop for these slender hunters.

A behind the scenes look at photographing a Green Vine Snake. It takes patience and understanding of the snake's behavior to get a shot that feels natural and respectful, showing the animal in its element.

The Indian Rat Snake, often called the 'farmer's friend' for its role in controlling rodent populations. My work often highlights these beneficial relationships, showing how snakes are essential for a healthy ecosystem.

A close-up portrait of a Trinket Snake. These non-venomous snakes are known for their calm demeanor and beautiful patterns, making them a wonderful subject to film and photograph.

A new life begins. This Buff-striped Keelback hatchling emerges from its egg, a moment I was privileged to witness after artificially incubating a clutch of eggs found on a rescue call.

About My Passion for Snakes

Getting a clean shot of a snake like a Bamboo Pit Viper is not about speed. It requires staying still for hours, often days. I never set up my subjects or force a pose. My ethics as a rescuer come first. I capture them exactly as they are, wild and perfectly camouflaged in their natural environment.

Wildlife filmmaking is less about the camera and more about the fieldcraft. Whether I am trekking through the Western Ghats for a rare pit viper or documenting a hatchling emerging from its egg, my priority is respect for the animal.

I use specialized macro lenses to capture the intricate textures of a saw-scaled viper's scales without disturbing its behavior. My approach combines technical precision with a deep understanding of animal temperament. I do not interfere with their hunting or resting patterns. If a subject is too stressed, I move on.

From the 'Big Four' venomous snakes to the humble rat snake that protects our crops, every species tells a story. I aim to share the reality of their existence, moving past the common myths that lead to fear. By documenting these animals, I want to show that coexistence is not just possible, but essential for a healthy environment. If you are looking for ethical wildlife photography for your project or conservation campaign, I am ready to bring my field experience and gear to your location.

Hey, I’m Karan. Wildlife has been in my blood since I was a kid, when I rescued my first snake at eight years old. I use my camera to bridge the gap between people and animals, showing the gentle side of species everyone else avoids.
