About Behind The Music: Our Process
A killer show is 80 percent preparation and 20 percent on-stage energy. When we land at a venue, we head straight to the console for a rigorous sound check. Whether it is balancing the drums or syncing the keys, we make sure the audio is concert-ready before a single guest walks in. It is this disciplined, behind-the-scenes focus that allows us to walk off the stage and interact directly with your crowd without a technical hitch.
You only see the final show, but here is what happens before I grab the mic. My band, The Nautanki Company, operates like a clockwork unit because we know that a high-energy corporate gig or wedding set is only as good as its technical foundation.
The Sound Check Ritual
We never skip the technical details. Whether we are in Mumbai, Bali, or a remote event venue, my sound engineer, the boss at the console, runs a meticulous check on every instrument. We test the drums, keys, and vocals until the levels are perfect for the room acoustics. This isn't just about volume; it's about clarity so that when we transition from a soft acoustic dinner set to a high-octane dance session, the sound stays crisp.
Band Chemistry
People often ask how we manage to make the audience part of the madness. The secret is the hours spent jamming off-stage. We spend time before the show warming up, syncing our timing, and getting into the right headspace. This rapport is what allows us to improvise on stage. If I see a crowd member dancing, I can cue the band, and we adjust the tempo instantly.
