Designing shared bedrooms for kids requires more than just beds; it needs smart planning to keep space open for play. See how we use vertical layouts to make the most of every square foot.

This is how I design a single small room to comfortably accommodate multiple children. By using transforming bunk beds and integrated wardrobes, I can create distinct sleeping and storage zones, which can then be converted into a study or play area.

This layout is a solution for a large family in a single room, providing five separate sleeping pods. I use a multi-level bunk bed system to create privacy and personal space for each child, along with integrated storage and a shared desk area.

For a family with four kids, I designed this room with two separate loft structures. Each structure contains two beds and a personal study nook, creating four distinct zones that offer privacy and individual space for sleeping and schoolwork.

When a boy and girl share a room, I can create a clear division using a central storage unit. This design provides separate bed and storage areas, with a curtain for added privacy, allowing each child to have their own personal space.

This shared bedroom concept uses color-blocking with pink and blue to define separate zones for a boy and a girl. The loft bed design maximizes floor space, allowing for two beds, a study desk, and integrated shelving within a compact area.

For families, I love to integrate fun and function. This children's room design features a custom loft bed with a slide, a climbing wall, and monkey bars on the ceiling, creating an indoor playground that also includes a study desk and storage.

This nature-themed kids' room brings the outdoors in with botanical wallpaper and a green color palette. The design features a loft bed with a playhouse feel, a study desk, and plenty of built-in storage for a complete sleep, study, and play environment.

Here is a bright and airy room I designed for two kids, featuring a loft bed over a second bed and study area. This vertical layout makes the most of a narrow room, providing ample space for sleeping, homework, and storage by the window.

In this extremely small room, I built vertically with a staircase leading to a loft bed. This leaves the entire ground floor free for a spacious desk, wardrobe, and a play mat, proving that even tiny spaces can be fully functional.

This children's room design features a raised platform bed with large storage drawers underneath. I integrated a full-size wardrobe and a bookshelf into the same structure, creating a compact unit that also includes a dedicated study desk.

About Kids & Shared Bedrooms

A common worry with bunk beds is safety and daily utility. We build our structures using 19mm BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) plywood, which supports 80 to 100kg per level. We add 2mm PVC edge banding to remove sharp corners and install custom staircases with storage drawers, so you gain extra utility in the same footprint you would normally use for a standard ladder.
