A bold, street-visible cafe design in JP Nagar, Bengaluru. We focused on natural light, open flow, and a distinct orange-and-black brand identity to create this welcoming coffee reserve.

This video captures the evening ambiance of DRIP & DROP. The lighting design was crucial, with warm interior lights making the cafe a welcoming beacon at night, highlighting the custom furniture and vibrant orange ceiling.

The heart of the cafe: the espresso station. The bright orange countertop makes a bold statement, reflecting the brand's energy, while the professional equipment is laid out for optimal workflow for the baristas.

The spatial zoning plan for the DRIP & DROP project. This architectural drawing shows the clear division between public, semi-private, and private areas, which was key to designing a space that is both open and functional.

The detailed ground floor plan for the coffee shop. This blueprint illustrates the precise layout of furniture, the espresso bar, the kitchen, and the flow of movement, which is the technical foundation of the final design.

About this collection

The layout of DRIP & DROP was not just about the colour palette; it was a technical exercise in spatial zoning. We prioritised the flow between the espresso station and the customer seating areas to keep the narrow floor plate feeling open, using a central skylight to pull natural light deep into the cafe. If you are setting up a coffee shop, remember that the relationship between your service counter and customer movement is often more critical to your business than the decor on the walls.

Designing for Commercial Impact

When we took on the DRIP & DROP project in JP Nagar, the goal was to create a space that functioned as a 'coffee reserve' rather than just a standard cafe. The challenge was maintaining a street-visible, bold identity while keeping the indoor experience intimate.

The Technical Approach

  • Spatial Zoning: We mapped the ground floor to clearly separate the high-traffic espresso station from the quiet seating zones. This ensures that baristas have an efficient workflow while customers are not crowded near the point of sale.
  • Natural Light Integration: The use of a central skylight was deliberate. By illuminating the espresso bar from above, we drew attention to the craft of coffee making, creating a focal point that anchors the room.
  • Materiality: We used bold hues to define the brand, but balanced them with industrial elements to ensure the space feels durable and easy to maintain—a requirement for any high-footfall F&B outlet.

How We Work With Brands

My team at Inari Atelier believes that a cafe's design is an extension of its menu and service. We start every project by sketching the flow. We look at where your customers enter, where they linger, and where they pay. Before we pick a single tile or light fixture, we ensure the floor plan works. If you are looking to renovate an existing space or build a new retail showroom in Bengaluru, our process involves detailed GFC (Good For Construction) drawings, BOQ generation, and hands-on site supervision to ensure the vision you see in our 3D walkthroughs is what actually gets built on-site.
