Hideout Cafe: A Modern Biophilic Design Project
We designed this space to be more than just a coffee spot, creating a seamless transition from street-side appeal to a cozy, nature-inspired interior.
The exterior of Hideout Cafe was designed to be a beacon for coffee lovers. The clear branding, combined with a welcoming staircase and a preview of the green, airy interior, makes a compelling invitation to step inside.
This wide shot of the patio seating shows how we balanced comfort and style. The arrangement of tables encourages both solo visitors and small groups, while the rattan chairs and wooden tables create a relaxed, bohemian cafe atmosphere.
From this angle, you can see the seamless flow from the outdoor planters to the interior greenery. We used plants to blur the lines between inside and out, creating a refreshing and cohesive eco-friendly cafe design.
A closer look at the details that create the ambiance. The cascading vines on the white brick wall, paired with the warm glow of the neon sign and woven light fixtures, create a perfect corner that is both rustic and modern.
The entrance design for Hideout Cafe sets a sophisticated tone. We used a custom logo decal, unique sculptural decor, and a feature wall of vertically stacked green tiles to create a strong visual identity right at the door.
This close-up highlights the material palette we chose. The interplay between the glossy, handmade-look tiles, the soft glow from the cloud-like lights, and the earthy texture of the pots creates a rich, tactile experience for guests as they enter.
About this collection
Notice the lighting layering in this project. We used woven rattan pendants over the seating areas to create immediate warmth and intimacy, while vertical green tiles at the entrance pull foot traffic inside. It is a layout specifically planned to turn casual passersby into regulars who stay longer because the space feels naturally welcoming, not clinical.
Balancing Atmosphere and Function
The goal for Hideout Cafe was to solve a common design challenge, making a compact commercial space feel expansive and inviting. We focused on the 'street to seat' experience, ensuring the exterior branding signaled comfort before a customer even opened the door.
The Biophilic Approach
Nature-inspired design is more than just adding plants. We integrated cascading vines and indoor greenery to blur the lines between the outdoor patio and the interior seating. This does two things: it acts as a natural sound buffer and provides a calming visual break from the Bangalore city rush outside.
Material Selection
We selected materials based on durability and tactile experience. The woven rattan light fixtures provide a rustic, handcrafted feel, while the exposed white brick and high-quality ceramic wall tiles offer a clean, modern contrast. We specifically avoided clutter, opting for furniture that feels light but sturdy, perfect for both solo coffee drinkers and groups working on laptops.
Our Design Process
For this project, we started with 3D visualization, allowing the owners to walk through the space virtually before we laid a single tile. This helped us refine the service flow, ensuring staff can move easily between the counter and tables without disrupting guests. Whether you are looking for an industrial open-ceiling setup or a full-scale themed renovation, our team manages the entire process from layout planning to final styling.
