Expert Training for a Calm & Well-Mannered Dog at Home
A well-trained dog completely changes the atmosphere of your home. I teach you and your pet how to communicate clearly, ensuring your space stays peaceful and your dog remains happy, whether you are starting with a puppy or managing an adult dog.
Here I'm working on impulse control with Simba, a German Shepherd. Notice how he waits for my "Okay" command before eating the food on the floor. This is a crucial skill for safety and manners.
This is Ammia, a rescued Indie dog, learning impulse control. She is waiting patiently for the signal to eat the treats. This training is vital for teaching dogs not to eat things off the ground.
Tiger, a show line German Shepherd, demonstrates excellent food manners. He holds his position and waits for permission before eating, showing great self-control.
Hope, an American Boxer, is practicing the 'place' command and waiting for her food reward. This exercise combines obedience with impulse control, teaching the dog to be calm and patient.
This Dalmatian, who was dealing with aggression, is learning the 'place' command. This is a foundational step in behavior modification, giving the dog a safe and calm spot to relax in.
Papper, an energetic Indie boy, is learning to settle down and wait patiently for his treat. This kind of training helps hyperactive dogs learn to control their impulses and be calmer at home.
Logan the Rottweiler is practicing his obedience routine inside the house. It's important that a dog listens and behaves well in the home environment, not just outdoors.
Here, Logan the Rottweiler is practicing his 'stay' and 'recall' inside. A reliable recall is one of the most important commands for any dog owner.
Training is for every dog, big or small. Here's Juliet, a lovely Shih Tzu, practicing her 'down', 'stay', and 'come' commands indoors, making her a wonderful companion.
About A Calm & Well-Mannered Dog at Home
The key to a calm home often starts with food manners. I do not just teach 'sit' and 'stay', I teach impulse control, like waiting for permission before eating. This one skill changes how your dog views boundaries, making them significantly more patient when you are busy at home or handling guests.
My approach is about building a foundation of mutual respect. Many pet parents come to me because they are struggling with a hyperactive dog or a puppy that just will not settle. That is where 'Place' training comes in. I teach your dog to go to a designated mat or bed and stay there, even when things are happening around them. It is not about confining them; it is about giving them a safe, calm spot to relax.
Why Structure Matters
Dogs crave clarity. When a dog knows exactly what is expected of them, their anxiety levels drop. We work on:
- Crate Confidence: Creating a positive den environment to prevent separation anxiety.
- Impulse Control: Preventing door-dashing and teaching your dog to wait at gates.
- Potty Protocols: Setting up a routine that eliminates indoor accidents for puppies.
Practical Training for Real Life
I believe training should be done where you live. Whether you are dealing with a rescue that needs to learn house manners or a puppy that is teething, we practice in your living room, kitchen, and balcony. We use positive reinforcement—lots of 'Shabash!' and treats—to ensure your dog learns fast and stays happy. My goal is for you to be the primary handler. I coach you through every step, so by the end of our sessions, you are the one communicating effectively with your dog. You will see them become a smart, obedient, and calm family member.
