Modern Educational Environments & Institutional Design
I design educational spaces that move beyond the sterile classroom. My approach focuses on creating inspiring, light-filled environments that support both focus and collaboration for students and faculty.
This is the double-height waiting area I designed for The Shri Ram Universal School in Jaipur. The space is defined by natural light, with pops of color from the orange chairs and a circular wooden art piece that complements the vertical fins on the upper level.
The conference room at the school is designed for collaboration. I used warm wood paneling, a marble accent wall, and vibrant orange chairs to create an energetic yet sophisticated environment. The circular pendant lights add a modern, sculptural element.
The Principal's Room combines authority with comfort. I used a textured wallpaper, a sleek, modern desk, and soft, indirect cove lighting to create a professional and welcoming workspace for leadership.
This digital workspace at Queen’s College, Indore, was designed for focus and ergonomic comfort. The bold terracotta accent wall and matching pendant lights energize the space, while the light wood desks and privacy panels ensure a functional study environment.
The reception area for this educational space features a fluted counter and custom wooden cubbies for storage. The large, arched glass doorway provides a visual connection to the outdoors and fills the room with natural light.

About this collection
In my work for schools and colleges, I shift the focus from strict institutional rigidity to supportive, human-centric design. You will notice that I use specific textures like fluted wood and warm terracotta not just for visual appeal, but to lower stress and improve focus, as seen in the digital labs I created for Queen's College, Indore.
Educational architecture requires a deep understanding of how space influences behavior. A school is not just a building for instruction, it is an environment that either encourages curiosity or breeds fatigue. When I designed the lobby for The Shri Ram Universal School in Jaipur, my primary goal was to filter harsh light while maintaining an open, double-height atmosphere that feels welcoming rather than imposing.
Functional Design for Learning
My institutional projects prioritize the specific needs of the users. In digital workspaces, for instance, we integrate ergonomic seating and privacy partitions to facilitate deep focus. I avoid the typical cookie-cutter approach by selecting materials that offer both durability and aesthetic value. For example, using book-matched marble or fluted counters in reception areas establishes a professional tone that commands respect from visitors and parents alike, without losing the warmth necessary for a healthy learning environment.
Key Considerations for Your Space
- Natural Light & Biophilic Design: I integrate vertical fins and arched windows to manage daylight, ensuring classrooms and libraries are bright but free from glare.
- Acoustics & Flow: Whether it is a principal's cabin or a student lounge, I select finishes that balance sound absorption with clear sightlines.
- Branding & Identity: I treat the school's identity as a core design element, often using feature walls to integrate logos and school colors seamlessly into the architecture.
I view every project as a fresh start, ensuring the final layout supports your curriculum and institutional culture. Let us create a space where your students can truly excel.
I M Design & Development
