Don't have time for daily gardening? My collection of resilient, low-maintenance plants will stay green and healthy even if you get busy for a few days.

A healthy Dracaena plant at my nursery. This is a great low-maintenance option for both indoor and outdoor spaces.

The ZZ plant is one of the toughest indoor plants you can find. It requires very little water and can tolerate low light conditions, making it perfect for beginners.

About Low-Maintenance Plants

If your travel schedule or busy work life often keeps you away from your garden, you need plants that don't need constant pampering. Many of these hardy varieties, like the Snake Plant or ZZ, actually prefer it when you let their soil dry out completely between waterings, making them the perfect, stress-free companions for a fast-paced Mumbai lifestyle.

Gardening should bring peace, not stress. Plant nahi hai toh jaan nahi hai, but I understand that not everyone has the time to check soil moisture every single morning. That is why I have collected these resilient varieties for my nursery.

Why these plants work

These plants are natural survivors. Varieties like the Sago Palm, Rubber Plant, and Jade Plant have evolved to store water, which makes them forgiving when life gets hectic. You do not need to be an expert to keep them happy. A simple rule is to check the top inch of the soil. If it is dry, give them a little water. If it is still moist, they are perfectly fine on their own.

My top picks for your space

  • Snake Plant (Sansevieria): My absolute favorite for beginners. It filters air and thrives on neglect. You can practically forget it exists for two weeks, and it will still look fresh.
  • ZZ Plant: This one is a champion for low-light corners in your office or bedroom. It handles low water and low light with ease.
  • Jade Plant: Often called a 'money magnet', this succulent is incredibly tough and compact, making it great for windowsills.

A note from my nursery

Whether you are in Kurla or anywhere else in Mumbai, my goal is to help you build a corner that makes you happy. I always recommend using a well-draining soil mix with organic vermicompost to give these plants a strong start. If you ever feel like a plant is struggling, do not worry. Visit me, and I will share the exact 'nuskhe' (tricks) to get it back on track.
