The biggest challenge with terrace gardens in Mumbai is managing weight, wind, and drainage. I focus on structural planning first—using sturdy, rust-proof MS or Aluminum pergola frames and lightweight soil-less media mixes to ensure your trees grow strong without damaging your building's integrity. It is about planning for the long term so your greens stay healthy throughout the monsoon and summer.
Creating a beautiful terrace garden requires more than just buying nice pots. You need a setup that handles the Mumbai heat and the heavy rains. My approach starts with the foundation. We install pergolas that create distinct, shaded zones on your terrace, perfect for sitting out in the evenings. For privacy, I prefer using bamboo clusters or Ficus layers that act as natural screens against high-rise neighbors.
When it comes to plant selection, I suggest hardy varieties that bloom well in our local climate. Bougainvillea is my go-to for colorful, low-maintenance blooms that thrive in the sun. If you want a lush, green floor without the mess, we can install high-grade artificial grass or natural carpet grass, depending on your preference for upkeep.
I do not just finish the installation and leave. A huge part of my work is teaching you how to maintain it. Proper pressure washing of leaves to remove city dust and correct pruning cycles are the real secrets to a garden that stays vibrant year-round.
