During cocktail and reception events, lighting is everything. I do not just rely on ambient venue lights; I bring in professional off-camera flash setups to cut through the moody atmosphere. This ensures your portraits look crisp and editorial, while the candid dance floor shots keep all the motion and energy of the night without looking washed out or blurry.
The energy of a reception is distinct from the formal rituals of the wedding day. This is when the guard comes down, guests let loose, and the real celebrations happen. My approach to these events is to be a fly on the wall while anticipating the big moments like the champagne pop, the toast, or the surprise dance performances.
What I focus on during your event:
- Dance Floor Energy: I do not stand still. I move with the crowd to get those wide-angle, high-energy shots that capture the chaos and fun of the party.
- Editorial Portraits: We take a few minutes for portraits, utilizing the venue's architecture and lighting to get those sleek, magazine-style shots that show off your cocktail attire.
- Candid Interactions: Whether it is a toast with friends or a quiet moment between you two amidst the party, I am always scanning for the unscripted moments.
I work closely with my team to ensure we have both wide shots of the room and tight, intimate frames.
