About Traditional Motifs & Patterns
When you choose traditional motifs, you aren't just getting a design, you are embracing a story. I often tell my brides that the placement of a peacock or the intricate jharokha framing is about framing your journey, not just decorating skin. It is a meditative process, so prepare for a calm 4-6 hour session while we build these classic elements together.
There is a reason why traditional mehendi patterns like the peacock, elephant, and lotus remain the gold standard for weddings. These symbols carry deep cultural significance, representing everything from royal grace to new beginnings. When I sit down to apply henna, I see these patterns as a way to connect with the roots of our traditions.
For many of my brides, the goal is a look that feels classic and elegant, something that will not look dated when you look back at your wedding photos ten years from now. I focus on creating clean, sharp lines that make these traditional elements pop. Whether we are framing an elephant procession with intricate jharokha patterns or filling the space with classic jaal, the key is balance.
I use my own home-blended henna paste made from filtered Sojat henna and essential oils. This ensures that the dark, rich stain you want for your big day is natural and safe. Because I do this work in Borivali and travel across Mumbai for events, I understand the local pace. If you are planning a traditional event, just keep in mind that these dense, detailed designs do take time, so we will need to plan your timeline around that.
From the symbolism of the Swastika to the grace of a dancing peacock, my process is all about making sure the art fits your specific event and style. Let us talk about which traditional motifs tell your story best.
