About Editorial & Magazine Covers
Editorial work is different from standard party makeup. On these shoots, I do not just focus on the look, I focus on the hold. Whether it is a long day in Thailand or a studio session under harsh lighting, the products I use, like Armani Luminous Silk or NARS, are chosen because they survive sweat, heat, and constant movement. If you are planning a shoot, tell me your venue and concept, and I will tell you exactly how we will prep your skin to make sure the makeup does not budge.
Achieving that magazine-perfect finish is not just about the foundation. It is about prep. When I work with celebrities like Disha Patani for cover features, we start with a strict skincare routine to ensure the skin is hydrated enough to glow but prepped enough to keep shine at bay.
Technical performance is key. I use long-wear formulas from brands like Estée Lauder and Dior because magazine lighting eats through basic makeup. For the eyes, I focus on defining the shape with Pat McGrath pigments or soft smoky techniques that read well both on camera and to the naked eye.
Editorial work is physically demanding. You are often outdoors or in studios with limited ventilation. My kit reflects this. I bring everything from body illuminators like Fenty Body Lava for that collarbone glow to industrial-strength setting sprays. If you have an upcoming brand shoot or magazine feature, send me your concept notes. I love collaborating with photographers to ensure the hair and makeup do not just look good, but actively enhance the lighting and styling choices of the editorial team.
