About this collection

The secret to a flawless look isn't just in the braid; it is in the foundation. In my academy, I teach you how to secure your kuchu (tassels) and jadanagam (hair jewelry) properly so they do not slide or droop, regardless of the bride's hair texture. Whether you are working with shorter hair or need to fix extensions, we focus on the prep work first, so the final braid stays comfortable and firm through the entire ceremony.

Mastering the Classic Braid

Many students come to me worried that braiding is kashta (hard). The truth is, once you master the basics of sectioning and product application, everything falls into place. In my 12-day and professional diploma courses at my Sunkadakatte academy, we don't just learn how to plait; we learn how to build.

Why Technique Matters

  • Securing Accessories: A jadanagam is heavy. If the braid base isn't solid, it will pull on the scalp. We use specific pinning techniques and hair padding to distribute weight, ensuring the bride is comfortable for her entire Muhurtham.
  • Floral Artistry: Placing a jasmine veni or a rose bun isn't just about sticking flowers on. It is about matching the volume of the hair and the drape of the silk saree to create a balanced silhouette.
  • Working with Real Hair: We skip the dummy models for the final stages. You will practice on real hair, learning how to handle textures, apply crimping for volume, and hide extensions (chavli) seamlessly.
