FPV Drone Coverage for Off-Road & Desert Rallies
From the sand dunes of Bikaner to high-altitude Himalayan passes, I capture the raw speed and grit of your off-road adventures with high-speed, close-proximity FPV tracking.
Chasing a modified Mahindra Thar as it powers through the sand dunes of Bikaner. This is what rugged, off-road FPV filming looks like.
Following a dirt bike rider across the desert after the Ultimate Desert Challenge. This was a spontaneous shoot that captured the freedom of off-roading.
Low-altitude FPV chase of a Polaris RZR ATV during the Dune Cross event. My drone stays right on its tail, capturing the vehicle's power in the vast desert landscape.
Diving into a rally stage in Chamba to chase a dirt bike. This shot required precise timing to capture the rider bursting onto the track.
Documenting a multi-day 4x4 expedition through the remote Zanskar valley. My FPV drone captured the convoy navigating treacherous mountain roads and stunning landscapes.
Flying with an off-road convoy through the misty, high-altitude terrain of Rohtang La. The drone footage shows the scale of the adventure and the beauty of the Himalayas.
Capturing the action at the Rally of Chamba, following various rally cars like the Maruti Gypsy and Swift as they tear through the grass stages.
A split-screen view showing how my tiny FPV drone can fly incredibly close to a dirt bike without being noticed, resulting in immersive, natural-looking action shots.
About Off-Road & Desert Rallies
For long rallies, I run an independent field charging setup that keeps three drones in rotation, so there is zero downtime while you are tearing through the track. I am not just filming; I am managing the gear and safety buffers to make sure we do not miss that one crucial overtake or drift.
Off-road filming is not about sitting back with a long lens; it is about being in the middle of the chaos. Whether it is a Maruti Gypsy tearing through Chamba or a Polaris RZR sliding across the Bikaner dunes, my approach to off-road and desert rallies is built on speed and durability.
My Technical Setup for Rallies
I do not rely on standard setups that fail in harsh conditions. For rally coverage, I bring a specialized fleet of at least three drones. This redundancy is critical—it allows me to manage heat cycles, battery maintenance, and potential damage without stopping the shoot. My gear is dust-proofed for desert runs and calibrated for the thin air of the Himalayas.
Why FPV Works for Off-Road
Traditional drones provide a flat, overhead perspective. My FPV rigs chase from the dirt level, inches behind your vehicle, capturing the suspension travel, the tire smoke, and the aggressive lines you take through corners. It is the only way to show the actual speed of a 4x4 or a rally bike.
The Workflow
- Safety Recce: Before the race starts, I assess the terrain to identify buffer zones and flight paths that keep the action tight but safe.
- Continuous Tracking: I use high-power transmission systems like Crossfire and ELRS to ensure the signal stays rock-solid, even when we are deep in the desert or navigating mountain blind spots.
- Immediate Delivery: I know that for events, you need the content fast. I provide on-site card dumps to your media team for same-day edits so you can keep the social momentum going while the event is still trending.
Gavakshit Verma
I have been obsessed with FPV drones since 2015, chasing everything from rally cars in the desert to dirt bikes in Zanskar. When you are in the dirt, you need a pilot who understands the rhythm of the race as well as you do. Let's get out there and chase something crazy.
