Start Your Own Organic Kitchen Garden
My terrace is my Green Heaven, built with sweat and a little madness. From DIY beds to harvesting fresh tomatoes, I am here to show you how to start your own garden, mistakes and all.
There is no better feeling than harvesting your own food. This video shows the entire journey of growing tomatoes, from caring for the plants on my terrace to gathering a huge, colorful harvest. Growing your own food is super easy, and I can show you how to get results just like this, no matter the size of your space.
Space is tight in the city, so I built these DIY raised beds from tin sheets and scrap wood. I filled them with dry leaves and cardboard to keep them light and nutrient-rich. This is my 'jugaad' approach to gardening, proving you don't need expensive equipment to get an amazing harvest of vegetables like this organic broccoli.
This is your reminder to start your summer vegetable garden. I'll guide you through preparing the perfect seedling mix using cocopeat and compost, sowing seeds for everything from ghiya and zucchini to watermelon, and caring for them until they are ready to be planted.
My winter garden was overwhelming but gave the most beautiful harvests. This is the result of months of work: baskets full of organic carrots, turnips, and juicy tomatoes. The taste is authentic, just like the sabjiyan I ate in my childhood.
If your plants are struggling with flowering and fruiting, this organic growth booster is the answer. I mix bone meal, neem khali, and compost to create a powerful fertilizer that recharges the soil. I'll teach you how to make and use these simple mixes to get the best results from your container garden.
Delhi ki garmi can be tough on our paudho. Installing a green net is a must to protect them from the harsh sun. I show you how to choose the right type of net and set it up on your terrace to ensure your summer vegetables survive and thrive.
Gardening isn't always perfect. Sometimes, our national bird, the peacock, decides to visit and create some chaos. This is a real part of my journey. It teaches patience and reminds us that even with setbacks, the process is worth it.
This is what it's all about: garden to plate. Harvesting fresh lettuce from a pot on my terrace and making a delicious sandwich minutes later. The flavor of food you've grown yourself is the ultimate reward.

You don't need fancy equipment to start. My go-to potting mix is 40% compost, 30% river sand, and 30% garden soil, topped with a bit of neem khali for pest control. That simple mix is what powers my harvest, whether it is tomatoes, broccoli, or leafy greens, right here on my terrace.
Gardening is not all sunshine and perfect harvests. It is therapy, but it is also back-breaking work involving soil bags, unexpected pests, and yes, peacocks who love to snack on my seedlings. I have failed many times, sowed seeds repeatedly because of those birds, and learned that patience is the most important tool.
My approach is about keeping things real and accessible. I do not believe in buying expensive, ready-made setups. Instead, I focus on 'jugaad' (smart hacks). I build my raised beds from discarded tin sheets and scrap wood, using dry leaves and cardboard at the base to keep them light and nutrient-rich. This works perfectly for growing everything from winter carrots and radishes to summer bottle gourds and cucumbers.
Living in Delhi, you have to be smart about the weather. Winters here allow for a huge variety of sabjiyan (vegetables) like broccoli and spinach. In the sweltering summer, I install green nets to protect my plants from the harsh sun, ensuring the flowers do not burn and the vegetables actually grow. My goal is to help you get that authentic taste of homegrown produce, just like the vegetables we ate in our childhood. Whether you have a small balcony or a full terrace, we can work together to build a garden that actually gives you a harvest.
