Start Your Own Organic Kitchen Garden at Home
Dilli ke ghar chhote ho sakte hain, but your garden doesn't have to be. I help you transform your terrace or balcony into a productive mini-farm, growing everything from organic tomatoes to fresh fruits with simple, space-saving setups.
This is the result of setting up a simple home garden for tomatoes. Using a self-composting technique with bottles, this single pot produced an incredible amount of cherry tomatoes, all completely organic and fresh.
You can even grow sweet corn on your terrace. I set up these long tubs for a client, and within a month and a half, they were harvesting their own fresh, sweet corn. It's a great example of urban farming.
This is a black grape vine I set up in a home garden. It's a five-year-old plant that produces bunches of sweet, black grapes right on the terrace. Growing your own grapes is incredibly rewarding.
This is an All-Time Mango (ATM) plant, a variety perfect for growing in pots. I help clients select and plant these, and with good feeding, you can get mangoes almost all year round, right on your balcony.
This is a cherry plant that starts fruiting within a year. It's a 'chota packet, bada dhamaka' that can give you one to one and a half kilos of sweet cherries from a single small plant on your terrace.
An All-Time Lemon plant is a must-have for any home garden. This variety gives fruit three times a year, so you'll never have to buy lemons from the market again. I can help you set one up in a pot.
This Chiku plant is a real survivor. It withstood temperatures over 50 degrees without a green net and is still full of fruits and flowers. I select hardy varieties like this for my clients' terrace gardens.
These are hybrid tomatoes grown from seed in a small pot on a balcony. They are incredibly sweet and perfect for salads. I guide my clients on how to start their own vegetable patches, even from seeds.
This is the Mallika mango, known as the 'queen of mangoes'. It's a hybrid variety that can grow large, delicious fruits even in a pot. I help clients choose and nurture such fruit trees for their urban gardens.
This is another variety of mango, the Mallika, which is a cross between Dussehri and Neelam. It produces large, flavorful mangoes and can be grown successfully in a large pot on a terrace.
About Ghar ki Kheti: Organic Edible Gardens
You don't need a farm to grow a salad. I use self-composting bottle setups for vegetables like tomatoes, meaning you never need to buy chemical fertilizers. It is a closed-loop system where your kitchen waste feeds your plants directly, and yes, it works perfectly even in a 2x2 balcony corner.
Grow What You Eat
Most people think organic farming needs acres of land. My 'Ghar ki Kheti' approach proves otherwise. Whether it’s a tiny window ledge or a full terrace, I use vertical gardening techniques—like PVC towers for leafy greens—to maximize your harvest without sacrificing space.
The 'Jugaad' Difference
- Self-Composting Systems: I set up systems that turn your daily kitchen waste into nutrient-rich soil right inside the planter.
- All-Time Fruit Varieties: I don’t just plant trees that fruit once a year. I source varieties like the Thai All-Time Mango (ATM), Rataul, and All-Time Lemon that are grafted to fruit multiple times annually, even in pots.
- Space-Saving Engineering: From bamboo trellises for creepers to moveable garden beds on wheels, I build layouts that adapt to your sunlight and available space.
What We Can Grow Together
- Vegetables: Tomatoes (I love the hybrid varieties for balconies), Bhindi, Palak, and herbs.
- Fruits: You’d be surprised what can grow in a terrace pot. I’ve successfully set up grapes, cherries, and grafted mango trees like Amrapali and Mallika for clients across Delhi NCR.
My goal isn't just to set up a garden; it's to teach you how to manage it. I provide the initial setup, the right soil mix, and a starter kit with organic pest control like Neem Oil, so you aren't left guessing when a leaf turns yellow. Let’s get your terrace growing.
