This is Jimmy, a sweet Lhasa Apso whose eyes were severely matted from discharge. After carefully and gently trimming away the painful knots, he is now much more comfortable and looking handsome.
Hugo the Poodle came in with severe tangles. In this case, I prioritized his comfort over a perfect haircut, spending the time needed to gently detangle his coat. A positive experience is always my primary goal.
This Cocker Spaniel, Golmorich, came in with a heavily matted coat. Instead of a full shave, I was able to carefully work through the mats and save her beautiful long fur, just in time for the festival.

This Husky's coat looked fine on the surface but was pelted with tight knots underneath. It took four hours of careful work to de-mat his coat without having to shave it, which is crucial for preserving the integrity of a double coat.
About this collection
When you look at these before-and-after photos, notice the difference in the dog’s demeanor. Most arrived with heavy matting or neglected coats, not just 'messy fur.' My process, whether it is a session for Sky the Malamute or Golmorich the Cocker Spaniel, is always comfort-first. I do not just pull at knots. I carefully work through them with line brushing and detangling sprays. If a coat is too far gone—where the skin is literally being pulled—I will tell you honestly that shaving is the kindest option. A perfect haircut is never worth causing your pet pain.
The Truth About Matting and Double Coats
Many pet parents think the only answer to a messy, knotted coat is a quick shave. But for double-coated breeds like Huskies, Malamutes, and Retrievers, that is often the worst thing you can do. Your dog’s undercoat provides insulation against both heat and cold. When I work on dogs like Whiskey or Sky, I focus on 'coat restoration'—using high-velocity dryers and specific tools to remove the impacted undercoat without damaging the protective top layer.
Why 'Comfort First' Matters
Every dog has a different tolerance level for grooming. You will see photos of Hugo the Poodle here; sometimes, we don't finish a 'perfect' style because the dog has reached their limit. It is a partnership. Arre, kya aap bhi dog ko nahate waqt galat tareeka use kar rahe ho? (Are you also using the wrong method to bathe your dog?) Many skin issues, like the dandruff we solved for Hannah the Golden Retriever, start at home. During these sessions, I often find that the brushing technique or the frequency of baths is the real culprit, not the dog's skin type.
