My Interior Design Process: Personal, Transparent & Practical
Renovating can feel overwhelming, but I am here to guide you through every step. I handle the technical details so you can enjoy the creative journey of building your home.
Ever wondered what goes into the work of an interior designer? It's a journey of passion and creativity, and I want to give you a peek behind the scenes of my process, from the first idea to the final execution.
Every project begins with a conversation. I start with a client meeting to discuss the scope, requirements, and budget, followed by detailed site measurements to ensure my plans are perfectly tailored to your space.
In our first meeting, my primary focus is to deeply understand your vision and budget. This allows me to craft an initial concept that truly aligns with your needs and aspirations for your home.
In our second meeting, I present my ideas visually. This includes sharing material samples, color layouts, mood boards, and even 3D renders so you can get a clear and exciting picture of what your future space will look like.
Once you approve the concept, I dive into the technical details. I create basic drawings for contractors and coordinate with all the different teams involved, including electricians, carpenters, and plumbers.
The execution phase is all about careful coordination. I finalize furniture, conduct market research for the best pieces, share detailed drawings with the laborers, and maintain constant communication to ensure a smooth process.
Smooth collaboration between my design drawings and the on-site labor is crucial for success. I meet with all team members regularly to align our efforts and make sure everyone is working towards the same goal.
Many people think an interior designer just decorates, but my work starts from the ground up. I'm deeply involved in the construction and renovation process, helping with everything from flooring and plumbing plans to electrical layouts.
My design process is centered around you. I will never impose my personal style on your home, I'll keep you updated with regular site visits, and I'll bring curated design presentations to you so you don't have to spend endless hours in showrooms.
Some people think interior design is just about making a space look good, but it's so much more. Good design enhances functionality, improves comfort, and optimizes your space to support your daily life. It's an investment in your well-being.
About My Design Process & Philosophy
I don't just hand over a pretty render. My process starts with me visiting your site to take measurements myself, followed by a collaborative session where I show you material samples and 3D plans. This way, you get to see exactly what you are paying for before we touch a single wall, ensuring there are no surprise costs or structural shocks once the construction work begins.
How We Get Started
It all begins with a simple conversation. I come to your home, assess the space, and we talk about what you actually need. Whether you are battling over wall colors with your partner or trying to fit a home office into a compact bedroom, I listen first. We establish a realistic budget early on so we aren't chasing numbers later.
The Visual Phase
Once I understand your vision, I prepare mood boards, material palettes, and 3D renders. I believe in clarity, so I bring the showroom to you. You won't find yourself spending endless weekends running between shops to pick tiles or fabrics. I curate the options based on your taste, and we finalize the look together. This is when your vision starts looking like a real home.
Execution & Site Management
This is where the magic happens, but it is also where most people get stressed. I handle the technical drawings, coordinating with electricians, carpenters, and plumbers so you don't have to play project manager. I am deeply involved in the construction and renovation process, from structural changes to the final coat of paint.
My team focuses on practical, sustainable solutions like BWP marine plywood for kitchens and moisture-resistant finishes for bathrooms. I am on-site regularly to ensure that the work aligns with the drawings and that the quality remains high. My goal is to make the entire journey, from the dusty construction phase to the final reveal, as smooth and predictable as possible for you.
