How I Approach Jewelry Shoots
Photography for jewelry and personal accessories is a technical challenge. Because these items are often small and reflective, the margin for error is low. My process is divided into two distinct styles depending on your business needs:
1. E-commerce Catalog Photography This is about information and accuracy. For websites like Amazon or your own brand shop, I focus on a pure white background, even lighting, and consistent angles. I ensure that color correction is accurate, so the gold, silver, or gemstone shades match reality. I perform surface cleaning before every frame to minimize dust, followed by high-end retouching to remove minor manufacturing smudges or scratches.
2. Creative & Editorial Styling If you need images for Instagram or marketing campaigns, we move beyond the white background. I use textured props like slate, wood, or dark fabrics to create contrast and depth. This is where I use hard lighting to create drama or soft lighting to emphasize elegance. We can also incorporate lifestyle elements, such as showing how a bracelet fits on a wrist or how a necklace sits against fabric, helping customers visualize the scale and fit.
