Hands-On Engineering Projects for Kids

Skip the textbooks and let your child build, test, and take home their own working machines. From hydraulic cranes to solar rovers, we turn complex engineering concepts into real-world projects right here in Bengaluru.

A student confidently explains the science behind his projects, from a catapult demonstrating potential and kinetic energy to eddy current brakes. My goal is for kids to truly understand the concepts, not just build the models.

Remember the catapults in Bahubali? Here, we're building our own. This video shows the step-by-step process as kids construct their own miniature medieval siege engines, learning about physics along the way.

I love connecting science to things kids already know, like movies. Here, I'm explaining how the catapults we build use the same principles shown in the movie Bahubali, making physics relatable and fun.

Two different takes on hydraulic power. Students show off the hydraulic arms and cranes they've constructed, learning how pressure and fluid dynamics can be used to lift heavy objects.

Generating our own power. This clip shows a student-built windmill successfully generating electricity to light up an LED. It's a powerful way to learn about renewable energy.

A look at the components of a windmill. I guide students through assembling the motor, turbine, and blades, explaining the function of each part as they build their own generator.

How does the ball float in mid-air? This young scientist is testing his Bernoulli's principle project, learning about air pressure and fluid dynamics in a fun, interactive way.

About this collection

Forget theoretical diagrams. When we build a catapult, your child is not just looking at a drawing, they are wiring the motors, balancing the tension, and testing the trajectory themselves. They walk out with a working model that explains kinetic energy better than any classroom lecture ever could.

At Fun in Science, we believe the best way to understand how the world works is to take it apart and put it back together. Our engineering clusters are not about passive listening. We want kids to get their hands messy, use actual tools, and see the immediate results of their problem-solving.

Why Build from Scratch?

When a child spends two hours wiring a circuit for a metal detector or connecting syringes to build a hydraulic arm, they are doing more than just crafting. They are troubleshooting. If the crane doesn't lift, they figure out why. That moment of realization—when the connection works and the lights come on—is where real learning happens. It takes an abstract school topic like fluid dynamics or electromagnetism and makes it something they can touch.

What We Cover

Our engineering sessions range from basic mechanics to advanced tinkering. We guide children through:

  • Kinetic Energy & Force: Constructing medieval-style catapults and siege engines to understand motion.
  • Hydraulics & Fluid Power: Using syringes and tubing to create robotic arms and cranes.
  • Electronics & Robotics: Building solar rovers, burglar alarms, and electronic circuits using sensors and LDRs.

Logistics & Take-Home Value

We host sessions at our center in Basavanagar and travel across Bengaluru to schools and clubhouses. Every project your child builds is theirs to take home. We provide all the components, tools, and guidance. Whether it is a single-day workshop or our 10-day Advanced Tinkering Camp, our goal is the same: to send them home with a working model and a newfound confidence in their ability to build and create.

Fun in Science

Science Center at Basavanagar, BengaluruStarting ₹400 Per Child / Session

We are Fun in Science, and we honestly think textbooks never did it for us. We started this to show kids that science is everywhere, in the kitchen, in toys, and even in their favorite movies. We love seeing that spark when a project finally clicks and a child realizes they built something that actually works.
