A first birthday celebration moves fast, and keeping a one-year-old engaged is a team effort. My sessions focus on keeping the environment stress-free for your child, whether it is a calm formal portrait or the messy joy of a cake smash. I am there to capture the genuine laughter and those fleeting interactions, not just the posed group shots.
How I capture the big day
A first birthday isn't just about the cake; it's about the entire arc of the celebration. We start with clean, formal portraits while your little one is fresh and happy, ensuring we get those dapper outfits and family shots before the chaos begins. Then, we transition to the main event: the cake smash.
Keeping it real
One-year-olds are unpredictable, and that is perfectly fine. We don't force poses or demand a perfect smile. Instead, I work around your child’s needs, respecting feeding and nap schedules so the baby stays comfortable. If they need a break, we take one. My goal is to capture the authentic giggles, the curious expressions, and the interactions that happen when your child is just being themselves.
The logistics
To make things easier for you, I handle the heavy lifting. I bring the balloon arches, backdrop setups, and themed props—like marquee letters or fairy lights—to match your party theme. You just need to provide the cake for allergen safety, and I manage the lighting and post-smash cleanup. You get high-resolution edited images and a 60-second video reel that captures the energy of the party, ensuring you have a visual record of these early, fleeting moments.
