Fitness Photography: See My Behind The Scenes Process
Ever wonder how a basic workout session turns into a high-impact cinematic visual? Take a look at my process, from the initial setup to the final edit.
This video gives you a peek at how I operate during a shoot. Here, I'm finding the best angles and using natural light for a poolside session with Jeet Selal. You can see the raw footage and how it transforms into the final, professionally edited shot, showing the complete journey from concept to result.
About My Process: Behind The Scenes
Most people just see the final photo, but the real work happens in the setup. For this poolside shoot, I had to balance the harsh afternoon light with the angle of the water to make the muscle definition pop. You are not just paying for a click, you are paying for the coaching on how to hold that pose and the lighting setup that makes it look cinematic.
People often ask me why my fitness shots look different from standard gym photos. The secret is that I treat every shoot like a film production. Whether we are in a high-end gym in Mumbai or shooting outdoors in Haldwani, I focus on three pillars: light, angle, and the athlete's comfort.
When you look at these behind-the-scenes clips, you will notice I am constantly moving. I am looking for that one angle where your muscle definition, like bicep peaks or vascularity, catches the light perfectly. We do not just take photos, we construct them.
For my physique portfolios, I use a 3-point lighting setup, even outdoors if we can control the environment. This creates the depth and shadows that separate a flat image from a professional, magazine-style shot. I also spend time guiding your poses. If you are not a professional model, it is my job to coach you on how to tense your muscles or shift your weight to look your best.
The final part of my process is the editing. I do not believe in over-processing. I focus on color grading and muscle definition enhancement that keeps the image looking real, not plastic. If you are ready to stop posting basic gym selfies and start creating high-impact visuals, let's talk about your next shoot.
