Composter Designs for Every Home and Community
I design aerobic composting systems that work, whether you live in a high-rise apartment or manage waste for your entire society. Choose a system that fits your space and makes turning waste into black gold a daily habit, not a chore.
Choosing the right composter is the first step to success. I always advise looking for three key features: ample aeration all around, a separate chamber to collect any excess liquid or compost tea, and a tap for easy drainage. My designs, like the EVA shown here, incorporate all these principles.
My popular EVA Aerobic Home Composter, seen here on a balcony, is designed for modern living. Its compact, double-shelled body is handcrafted from durable FRP material, ensuring it works efficiently without creating any mess or odor.
I am excited to introduce the Ebony, my new 3-tier aerobic home composter. It is designed for vertical spaces, making it perfect for smaller balconies. The breathable fabric containers and easy-to-assemble frame make it a simple and sustainable choice.
Assembling the Ebony composter is a simple and enjoyable process. Here, my friend and teammate Vani Murthy unboxes and sets up her new 3-tier stackable composter. Its lightweight design and breathable fabric make it a promising new addition for any home.
My Eartha Community Composter is designed for larger spaces like apartment complexes. Its sturdy build and efficient aerobic system can handle significant amounts of waste, turning it into valuable compost for community gardens. This one is pictured at Vani Murthy's apartment complex.
This is my Elements multi-purpose composter, which is excellent for composting large volumes of garden waste like dry leaves. The front panel can be easily removed, making harvesting a simple and straightforward task without any heavy lifting.
It is always a rewarding experience to see the final result of my designs. This video shows the process of harvesting rich compost from an EVA composter. The positive feedback from customers is a testament to the quality and effectiveness of these thoughtfully created systems.
Here is a look at my stall at an event organized by the Centre for Sustainable Development. You can see the different models I offer, including the EVA and Ebony home composters, alongside my book 'Endlessly Green'.
We are always working hard to keep up with the demand for the EVA Home Composter. Each unit is handcrafted, wrapped with care, and shipped out to homes across the country, ready to start its journey of turning waste into wealth.
The EVA Home Composter is back in stock and ready to be a part of your home. This system is designed to make composting easy and effective, allowing you to create nutrient-rich soil amendment right on your balcony.
About My Composter Designs: For Every Home and Community
I hand-craft each EVA unit using a double-shelled FRP design that acts like a thermos. This keeps the internal temperature high to accelerate microbial breakdown while preventing leaks and odors. It is not just a plastic bin; it is an engineered solution meant to make your daily waste management as simple as dumping your kitchen scraps.
My philosophy is rooted in one truth: composting is simple if you stop fighting nature and start working with it. I designed these systems to address the three biggest hurdles people face: odor, pests, and leachate.
The Design Philosophy
Every model I offer follows the same aerobic principles. Whether it is the sleek EVA or the modular Ebony, the core function is to provide sufficient aeration and moisture management. If you follow the basics—what I call your Oggarane Dabba (spice box) of waste—and maintain a proper carbon-nitrogen balance, these systems will do the heavy lifting.
Which Model is for You?
- EVA Home Composter: My flagship for balcony gardening. Its double-shelled design creates a thermal pocket that keeps the pile hot, which helps process tough waste like bones or oils and deters pests. It is perfect for those who want a set-it-and-forget-it experience.
- Ebony 3-Tier System: When floor space is limited, this stackable fabric system is the answer. It is highly breathable, lightweight, and vertical, making it ideal for compact apartments.
- Eartha Community Unit: For housing societies and large villa complexes, this industrial-grade vessel is built to handle bulk organic waste safely. It requires a dedicated spot, but it is the most efficient way to divert community waste from landfills.
Why Hand-Crafted Matters
I don't believe in mass-producing plastic bins. Each EVA unit takes about a week to hand-polish and paint. This slow manufacturing process ensures that the finish is durable and the seals are tight. When you buy one of these, you are getting a system I have personally tested and refined over years of my own composting journey.
Savita Hiremath
I spent years figuring out why composting fails—it is usually the infrastructure. So I started designing my own. From the compact EVA for your balcony to the robust Eartha for your building, my focus is always on making nature’s work easier for you.
