My Composting Journey & Learning Workshops
From journalism to zero-waste advocacy, I help you turn kitchen scraps into black gold through hands-on learning and practical science.
It was a proud moment to be featured in Bangalore Mirror as an eco-champion on World Environment Day. My journey started in 2009, and I have been committed to promoting zero-waste systems in my community and beyond ever since.
Here I am at the GreenLitFest at the Bangalore International Centre, surrounded by books and like-minded people. It is always wonderful to be in a space that celebrates literature and sustainability.
The feedback from my workshop participants is incredibly encouraging. It feels great to know that I was able to clear their doubts and make their composting journey easier. This is what 'Composting with Confidence' is all about.
All set for my online composting workshop. I use a variety of materials for my demonstrations, including kitchen scraps, dry leaves, cocopeat, and my Excelerator compost culture, to give participants a real, hands-on feel for the process.
On a mission to Akshayakalpa in Tiptur. I am conducting an experiment to convert their dairy rejects into compost using my Excelerator culture. Dairy is tough to break down, but I am confident in the science and the well-trained staff.
A screenshot of the article in Bangalore Mirror. It highlights my work as a journalist, author, and founder of Endlessly Green, contributing to environmental conservation through a zero-waste system I helped establish in 2012.
The full feature in the newspaper. It is an honor to be recognized alongside other passionate individuals who are working tirelessly to keep Bengaluru green.
About My Journey & Workshops
I didn't start as a composting expert—I started as a journalist with a messy compost bin and a lot of questions. My workshops aren't just theory; they are 'compost clinics' where we troubleshoot your specific problems, like odor control or getting that perfect C:N ratio, so you can stop guessing and start composting with confidence.
After 12 years in journalism, life threw me into the compost bin. It wasn't about quick hacks, but about understanding the science—the carbon-nitrogen balance, the microbial magic of my 'Double Quick' Excelerator, and the importance of proper kasa vingadane (waste segregation).
I believe composting is like making a good curry; it is about the right ingredients and technique. My workshops are built on the 'Oggarane Dabba' philosophy—if you keep your waste separated at the source, the rest follows easily. Whether you are a first-timer struggling with maggots or someone looking to scale up community composting, these sessions are designed to move you from confusion to harvest.
We cover the full loop:
- Troubleshooting common composting woes like odor, moisture levels, or pests.
- Demystifying the science behind microbial breakdown and electrical conductivity.
- Hands-on demonstrations with cocopeat, shredders, and compost culture.
- Guidance on setting up systems, from home balconies to large community units.
My goal is to make the process simple, practical, and clean. You do not need magic; you just need a bit of science and the right guidance to help nature do its thing.
