Behind the Scenes of Turning Waste into Wonder

See how we collect discarded plastic from Delhi-NCR and transform it into durable, weather-proof furniture. This is our process from trash to treasure.

Our work starts here, by creating a value chain for plastic waste. This supports the livelihood of ragpickers who are essential partners in our circular economy model.

A glimpse into our workshop where our skilled team cuts, sands, and assembles the recycled plastic sheets, bringing our sustainable furniture designs to life.

This video introduces us and our mission. We started this journey to turn the problem of plastic waste into beautiful, useful things, and after five years, we're just getting started.

About How We Turn Waste into Wonder

Every piece you see here starts as post-consumer plastic, often wrappers or bottles collected from local communities. Before it becomes a bench or a desk, it goes through a rigorous process of sorting, cleaning, and shredding. We then press these materials into high-density, recycled plastic sheets that are weatherproof and UV-resistant, ensuring that the piece you get is not just eco-friendly, but built to handle the harsh Indian climate.

How We Build a Circular Economy

When we started Econscious, we realised that if we wanted to make a big impact, we had to think beyond small decor. Today, our process is designed to close the loop on waste that typically ends up in landfills.

1. Collection & Community We partner with local ragpickers and waste collectors across Delhi-NCR. By creating this value chain, we provide a livelihood for those who are the backbone of our waste management system.

2. The Transformation Once collected, the plastic is cleaned and shredded. We avoid using virgin plastic, opting for 100% post-consumer materials. This shredded plastic is heat-pressed into heavy-duty sheets with that signature 'confetti' look—meaning every single product has a unique pattern.

3. Built for Durability Our recycled plastic benches and utility booths are not just for show. We have tested them in extreme conditions, including high altitudes like Shimla. They are naturally termite-proof, waterproof, and require zero maintenance compared to wood or metal, which rust or rot.

Why This Matters

Every bench we create diverts up to 100 kg of plastic waste from entering our oceans or landfills. Whether you are looking for a sustainable corporate gift, a piece for your office, or public infrastructure for a park, you are choosing a product that saves energy and reduces our collective carbon footprint.

We believe waste is only waste if we waste it. If you have a space that needs a durable, sustainable solution, we are ready to discuss how we can build it together.
